The other theater that is opening next Friday is doing Harry Potter, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump, four Harry Potter movies, Sonic, Tommy Boy, and Aquaman. If I didn't watch Saving Private Ryan so much for work I would go to that one.

 

I would go to two of those.

Do theatres need permission from the studios to do this? Or once they are given the film to show do they own it. Curious about how this all works.

Usually you need permission. That is how Disney stopped theaters from showing the 20th Century Fox films after they acquired the company.

 

The drive in theatre is showing ET and back to the future tonight. They're limiting the amount of cars in the lot tho so I'm kinda nervous about getting in

 

Would definitely go see Tommy Boy.

 

The concerning detail is that the blockbusters will be on more screens to make up for reduced capacity. It will be very hard for smaller films to break through.
