I thought that too but I don’t recall it in the show and the asterisks don’t line up.

It is an actual word that people have said before the internet got a hold of it...

Always do the right thing. Supporter

It’s a British word, too. Shakespeare invented it. Dunno the context being referred to, though

Now soyboy is one that I totally missed until they said it on Sunny this season and now I’m noticing it everywhere. Too much cringe to believe.

    I love using it ironically.

  8. I don't think that makes the word any less cringeworthy. Words have connotations and associations that evolve over time. It's like when I tried to convince my center-leaning friends that "bigotry" doesn't refer to intolerance of intolerance and "racism" is systemic so it can't be used to describe discrimination towards white people.

What’s cringeworthy about it though? I don’t understand.

  10. I think I remember reading an article on it, something about implications of fragile masculinity re: the people who use the term.

Yeah, I got nothing. The show is set before the word had that other use and I almost never see the full one used in a cringy context anyway. I don’t think it’s quite the same as hearing a slur that has a different meaning in the past and still not liking it even if you know what they meant.

I still don’t understand the original post about it and you don’t seem like to want to explain it, so never mind.

  13. I just looked up that word and it's cringeworthy in the same way. I don't know how else to describe why the word's gross to me, though. I feel like I just wasted everyone's time here.

    Trusted

I watched jeopardy today and learned that Cuckoo birds lay eggs in other male's nests which must be the origin for cuckold?

Anyway it's super not weird to use that word and it has been commonly used to emasculate much before the right co-opted it so there is no reason at all to wonder about its use in Fargo, a season that was likely written before the word became bigot ammunition

  21. In other news...

Target has a Buy Two Get One Free on DVDs (among other things), so I was able to get Avatar: the Last Airbender Complete Series, Avatar: The Legend of Korra Complete Series, and Doctor Who Seasons 1-4 in store for $65 and then Doctor Who Seasons 5-7, Doctor Who Seasons 8-10, and Penny Dreadful Complete Series online for $70. That's nineteen seasons of television for about $150.

    I mean, yeah, that's $150 worth of impulsive/irresponsible spending, but I did save $50...

I also impulsively spent $100 on all of Adventure Time a couple months ago, and none of that was on sale...
