I have no sympathy for you concert whingers. The teens need a place to scream and a concerts is the most appropriate outlet. I was at the front of the crowd for Tyler the Creator at is head spot for Splendour in The Grass a few years ago. I took my spot at the end of Glass Animals who were second top billed. When I arrived at the font I was surrounded the teens and the teens I talked to while we waited for the set to start did not secure their spot using superior crowd navigation skills, they had been there since midday pissing themselves for chance to be close to Tyler while they scream the words crying to every song. One them asked me if they could go on my shoulders for their favourite song See You Again, weak pick but whatever. I obliged and as I saw the tears of joy streaming down their crying teen face on the jumbo screen I realised I couldnt even fathom being that happy about anything ever.
The teens need this and it's not battle you can win to stop them so either bring your hearing protection and fold your arms at the back or stay home and let them have this.

 

I was very cathartic screaming “Until Marissa fucking dies!” at the Petey show. But I do agree screaming every lyric, even during ballads, is very annoying.

If you don’t like people singing at concerts maybe concerts aren’t for you. Now, screaming at the top of your lungs with no discernible rhyme/reason/actual words coming out is a different story. I saw Ed Sheeran (i know) years ago and a girl behind me screamed from beginning to end. Not words, not the song, just screeching. It was wild

 

Of course singing at a show is fine. We're talking about excessively intrusive behavior.

 

I only mind loud singing if that person sounds like a dying cat. Like, I’m not the best singer either, but I recognize when there are parts I can’t sing and don’t scream those parts. Just a little self awareness goes a long way.

 

To be clear, the loud audiences I was referencing weren’t participating loudly. I was talking about people having random ass conversations like they’re listening to a record player

also yeah if you want to talk and grab a drink go to a bar, like the bar at the venue where some people hang out the whole time which I don't get but you do you

 

I almost got into a fight at a phoebe bridgers concert cause I told a group of people that were talking loudly about where to gets drinks after the show to shut the fuck up.

 

I haven’t been to many shows the last few years, but the ones I have been to were pretty obnoxious. People around me having full blown conversations loudly during the set or people basically having a screaming contest during the songs, while they film the show screaming obnoxiously over their own video.

But idk, I kinda cross the line at people pissing themselves in the pit just to be as close to the barrier as possible. I certainly wouldn’t then put a teen that pissed themselves on my shoulders, but that’s just me. The camping out and the behavior to be at barrier are unhinged imo. People pissing and shitting themselves because they don’t want to lose their spot and half of them pass out and have to be taken away. Sounds worth it.

 

is this a regular occurrence? I know it happened at the Sabrina show and Swifties may or may not actually be wearing diapers

 

There were people on the 1975 subreddit that were even complaining about it during dates of their most recent tours. I feel like more than one occurrence is enough to wonder what the fuck is happening with people. Lol

 

I have seen more people pass out at shows in the last year than I ever have. Not sure what factors made it happen, but it’s getting weird.
