In some weird Space Opera alignment of planets or something we are getting Dune and Star Wars the same exact day on 12/18/26

Yeah, no way we're getting both in the same month, let alone the same day. Curious how that one's gonna pan out.

 

Don’t think Denis will want to make that release date and I honestly don’t think Star Wars will hit that date either. So it’s possible that neither of them will release that day. Lol

 

I know Dune 2 got pushed because of the strike, but it did so well as the first major tentpole release this year. I’m sure it’s an awards thing, which is silly when Part 2 will probably still do great at awards this year.

Star Wars, on the other hand, I like at Christmas. No idea which thing in development would be ready that soon though.

 

I don't see Dune 3 coming out that soon, wouldn't be surprised if it's delayed to 2027

Dune: Messiah hasn’t even been announced and what star war movie is being made currently?

 

No new Star Wars until at least 2030 please.

 

A third Dune has been announced, but that doesn’t make it any more likely that it’ll hit the date the studios want it too.

And I’m pretty sure the Mando movie is supposed to come first, so I don’t know why they’re even fooling themselves into thinking the Rey movie will make that date. Lol

 

Is it better to give an optimistic release date and then delay it? Keep it in the conversation longer or something?

 

They’re setting the release date to basically mark their territory. There’s nothing wrong with delays obviously. But people shouldn’t be taking that release date for Dune as gospel when they didn’t announce it as a Dune release date for a reason.

 

Jon Favreau's The Mandolorian and Grogu movie is going to be coming out earlier in May of 2026, and the post- Episode IX New Jedi Order movie with Daisy Ridley is the only other upcoming Star Wars film listed in preproduction so I am assuming it is that.

Also there is James Mangold's Dawn of the Jedi film, and the Filoni film that is going to be the big culmination of the plot of all the Mandoverse series, but I don't think we are getting those until much later.

 

"Released in the final 3 months of 2026" sounds like they to make something up to stick in the quarterly forecast report so it looked good to shareholders.
