If you take out your phone, you should be banned with no refund. Of course theaters won't do that because you are a paying customer, but those distractions are just another reason people aren't going to theaters anymore.

Just watched Ricochet (1991) for the first time and this movie is batshit crazy even by 90s standards, what a blast.

After my first rewatch in 10+ years, I can safely say The Fugitive is a masterpiece. Harrison Ford should have been nominated as well. ACAB. Also, I can still quote most of it, weird.

The arthouse theater is going to show Trash Humpers in September at a midnight showing. I never thought I'd see the day.

  22. I spent like an hour yesterday trying to remember if this was where my ex and I would see movies when I visited her in KC, then I woke up this morning and remembered it was the Tivoli, which I'm now bummed to see closed a while back. That place was really cool.

Yeah, the Tivoli ruled. Westport as a whole is completely different now. Way more corporate and crime-ridden. Last time I was there, there was a shooting at a club.

That said, Nelson-Atkins kind of absorbed the Tivoli so they still show some arthouse stuff and bigger movies outside in the summer. But it’s definitely not the same.

  24. This was like 12-13 years ago. There were some really cool record and book stores in that area too from what I remember.

That's a bummer that it's changed so much, but I guess everywhere does eventually.

Yeah, that was around the time I moved there. Everything that was cool there: Tivoli, Beaumont Club (well, not exactly cool), McCoy’s, Riot Room, Joe’s Pizza. Had a really great run, but, like all things, out-of-state investment firms bought the old locations and brought their shitty restaurants and venues here.
