I think that’s also what’s particularly fascinating and exciting about the Chapell album. It’s been a slow burn. People have been sitting with some of those songs for years and almost a year for the album, so there’s a lot to talk about and unpack.

 

The industry has been so bad at minting new pop stars this decade that it’s almost shocking we’re getting two (Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter) at the same time. Sabrina’s biggest claims to fame before this year were co-starring in a Boy Meets World spinoff and being the “blonde girl” referenced in an Olivia Rodrigo song.

 

For all the claims of “plants” over the last ten years … it is weird! Heh.

EDIT: Apparently these extended editions have been out for a while for the singles. Wild. The Houdini one sounds like it's mixed differently. Feels way more Tame Impala-esque. More reverb on the vocals, more focus on the synth.

 

I liked the idea of the extended version more than how it actually turned out. Oh well

 

Yeah it feels like you asked AI to extend the songs, there's very little that isn't just instrumental breaks at weird points. Like listening to an instrumental version and normal version at the same time.
