I've been reading the Dragonball manga. Gonna casually make my way through the whole series.

It's a lot of fun man.

I've been picking up the full color volumes of Z and I'm in love with them.

I've seriously been waiting for this game for my whole life. I played a lot of the recent games JUST because they were DBZ, but they pretty much were all button mashers to a certain extent. This looks incredible.

I've always wanted a Street Fighter style game like this with 3v3 or a simplified Smash Bros style DBZ game, but it seems like they were only interested in the same "behind the back camera" ones. Always felt like missed opportunities.

Also, I hope this game gets a lot of Super characters. Golden Frieza has me hyped.

Did you ever play any of the PS2 games? They were 2D and awesome. I used to play so much Budokai 3.

There have been some good Dragon Ball games in the past but as a big fan of ASW's fighters and its GORGEOUS Guilty Gear Xrd engine, this is a complete dream game that I didn't even know I wanted. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it and it's totally reinvigorated my interest in the franchise.

Totally going to finally dive into Super this week.

Yeah I loved Budokai 3. Probably my favorite Dragon Ball game. Even though it was a lot of fun, I was still not a fan of how repetitive a lot of the moves were (it was sooo much better than the Tenkaichi series though)

Haha, I probably wouldn't notice since I'm not usually a big fighting game fan so I usually just spam any move I like anyway. SSJ4 Goku was enough for me to love that game dearly.

i was interested in the color versions but i think i prefer manga in black and white. plus the color versions are like extra big so they wouldnt match my Dragon Ball volumes, ha.

They're so gorgeous, man. Nice thick glossy pages too. They will be my preferred way of revisiting Z once they're all out.

The best Dragonball Z game ever made was Legacy of Goku 2 for the Game Boy Advance.

I am very sad about the Dragonball Z manga box set being so out of print and expensive. I really want it.

Spent all last night reading DBZ and now I own all of Frieza's arc too. So much nostalgia...

Wish the whole series was out in color.

It honestly looks like someone saw that Hyper Dragon Ball Z game (the Mugen one) and decided to make a PS4 version. Not mad about it at all.

If I remember correctly, it seems like they had that Super Dragon Ball game for PS2 that was made by Capcom. It was similar but not nearly as in depth (and not tag team style). It was still awesome though and I actually preferred the variety in the mechanics for each character to Tenkaichi where they had 200 characters that all played the same.

Check out Super Dragon Ball Z from the PS2 era. It was made by Noritaka Funamizu's company Crafts & Meister who was heavily involved in the earlier Street Fighter games. The character roster is small in comparison to a lot of the later DBZ games but they're all way more developed and unique. Criminally underrated game.

Haha but yeah, totally on the same page! I'm happy to get back to that style and would be totally satisfied with a game like that. But the fact that this turned into a 3v3 game is just put it over the edge for me.

I'm super curious to see how this arc goes in terms of Frieza. The NEP seemed to indicate that the tournament begins without a hitch, what with everyone squaring off in Void at the end. That means if Freiza does betray Goku/U7, he will just be getting himself erased, unless there's some asspull where Frieza convinces Zeno to let him defect mid-brawl or something. So does Frieza just instigate as much as possible? What's the endgame there?

My god the power changes in this show are so silly. I'm only watching the dub and Freeza just killed Piccolo who stepped in front of Gohan again. How is piccolo like 5 sagas after the freeza saga no longer strong enough to fight base form freeza! Bonkers!!!

Okay, so I'm gonna start watching Super. I know the first two arcs adapt the two most recent movies - do they add enough that it's worth seeing the Super arcs over the films or should I watch the movies and then jump into Super when it starts new material? Time isn't a concern, I'm in no rush to catch up quickly so I don't mind watching a couple dozen more episodes, I just remember reading generally mixed things about Super early on so I was wondering which way y'all would recommend.
