I just want to be more real with my kids. They can hear cuss words but they have to know the correct circumstances like... don’t bully other kids or cuss at a teacher. They just need to know they can come to me for anything. My entire family has never once even mentioned that sex exists around me!

yeah I completely agree. I'm not planning on sheltering them, but keeping their vocabulary limited to non-insults until they know an appropriate time for them is the plan, like @KidLightning said

do we need to have a talk with you on here about s-e-x?

Let your kids face the harsh realities of life, I say. I think it’s great when children’s films are somewhat dark and go in challenging territory. With that said, this does in no way excuse mindless trash like the Ice Age movies. No one should watch that. All I know is that when I was 4 I was exposed the Star Wars movies and Never Ending Story, stuff like that, and I ended up ok-ish. But I agree that when it comes to crude humor, it should probably be more reliable. But if they were making pre-G movies they should be direct to video and definitely not in theaters

Edit: the first sentence is more of me just doing a bit. With that said, I personally will let my kids watch some stuff that might be scary or whatever, so long as it’s not mindless

My wife definitely won't be able to go but I'll definitely severely consider it. What day of week?

    arguable

I agree they can go direct to streaming, but those movies are usually trash due to budgets. so I'd like some more theater movies to be safer to take my kids to.

I watched never ending story and labyrinth when I was 5. weird memories of that.

My Runaway Ralph question is 100% unrelated to this rating conversation btw. That movie is harmless, but I’m curious if anyone else watched that

There is generally a good amount of information online about the content of movies. Especially on Christian websites. I know this cause my mom used to do her research lol. I wasn’t allowed to watch a lot growing up

the christian websites complain about some stuff that I don't have a problem seeing haha.

I like ones with user reviews that give details and examples of stuff so I know what they are talking about.

True. But I assume they also cover the content you might be concerned about. But perhaps not

My only reservation is my gf and I have been to Ithaca before for a show so it would of been nice to be going somewhere different for a change but I will say it was a beautiful region in the fall (finger lakes) and I'm sure it would be just as nice in the spring. Definitely seriously considering it.
