The whole, “it’s a kids movie so it’s okay if it’s bad” argument, is kind of stupid to me. Kids are not as dumb and the studios think they are.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

    Frozen rules
    Moana rules
The best Pixar movie is Inside Out

But you're arguing that predictability is inherently bad, which isn't the case.

Everything about this post hurts my soul :(

autocorrect changed this to “hurts my wood” for some reason and I don’t know why. I assure you, this does not hurt my wood

But it's not bad, it might be boring and predictable but it's not bad. Plus it's beautiful and the songs are great. Also Jemaine Clement is the crab.... Mic drop.

I've never even heard of Inside Out. Heard of Inside Job though. I'll assume they're almost the same.

I'm not a huge movie guy to begin with so it probably very easily flew under my radar.

Okay, well let me amend my argument. Is predictability inherently bad? No, not necessarily. But I found that the predictability in Moana made an already boring movie, feel even more tired. Obviously this is just my opinion, but I don’t see anything special about Moana, especially when it comes to its direction. I just watched The Shape of Water, and while I didn’t love it, I did think it was really good despite its predictability. Mostly because it has style and a vision, it’s a fresh take. Moana just felt like something pumped out of the Disney machine imo
