Odd take: They will probably keep the same setlist next week, but I'd like to see Combat swapped out with One Weak. (or Nosebleed)

So wait who was playing bass? Are they permanent?

It’s still just the four of them with a touring bassist and touring guitarist

Why they have a touring guitarist, I don’t know

Fred Sablan. He's been playing with them for two years. Presume he'll be on the new album. He's played with Chelsea Wolfe and Marilyn Manson in the past (maybe focus on the former of those).

I didn't even realise Coachella was two weekends until very recently.

May as well ask here: what is Coachella's USP? I pay very little attention to your American festivals, and from what limited attention I do pay, a few of the big ones seem fairly interchangeable.

USP? From my point of view, Coachella is definitely the most iconic(and pretentious). You are one of the biggest of the big artist if you headline a night of Coachella. Usually though most Coachella acts are not ones I follow or are not my cup of tea. To me most acts seems like made up names thrown in a random Coachella band name generator. However, I have a certain affinity for times when bands I do like end up on the line up(Deftones, Biffy Clyro, Knocked Loose, Chrvrches)

Obviously in different places at different times of the year but are there any significant differences in musical styles or strands between Coachella and say Lollapalooza or Bonnaroo?

Coachella is very in the moment, but still curated rare and unique acts, little bit more emphasis on electronic music. Coachella consistently books the best multi genre U.S. lineup. Lolla is also very in the moment, little bit more commercial acts, less of the indie/rare sets you see at Coachella. It suffers from the amount of teenagers and it’s early curfew.

Bonnaroo still has a little bit of roots in the jam band scene, the electronic skews a bit more bass heavy, tends to have more country/folk compared to the others. More of a varied lineup, from Fate Webster to Key Glock to Gwar in a couple hours.

Last week got Digital Bath, this week got Sextape. Pretty fair trade

Random, but I remember Deftones are one of the rare bands that played both Warped Tour and Ozzfest at one point. The only others that I think had that same crossover were Papa Roach and The Used.

I think technically they were the only band of their era that did both. But I’m pretty sure there’s a few metalcore bands that played both fests in the early-mid 2000’s

  16. Listening to Diamond Eyes today because I'm in a weird mood and it's hitting hard as ever for me

It’s a really solid entry into their catalog. One of the better album closers too IMO.

Really feeling Gore this last couple weeks. Good nostalgia hit since it came out originally in April, and I think the songs have really grown on me over time. I hadn't listened to it in full in a couple of years.

I think Gore is excellent. I don’t really understand why it gets the slack it does

You're right, I'm sure Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu and the various diarrhea-core bands of the era played both.

It's kind of a boring album, tbh.

Most Boring Deftones Songs ranking, I'll start

    Lucky You
    Moana
    Deathblow
    Battle-Axe
    Hearts/Wires
    Minerva

Terrible start. You included three of their best songs.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Minerva on that list is one of the most unhinged takes I've ever seen

Moana is a top 10 song for me lol. Chino’s vocal play against that wall of guitars and Abe’s driving beat is something to behold.

  25. Minerva?? What the fuck are you talking about about?
