Haha, I would say he's a HUGE Deftones fan. I've probably followed him on twitter for 5+ years and during that time at least, he's talked about them more than any other band.

 

I'm hearing that Black Stallion is brilliant

 

Excited to try and put a list of my own together tonight.

 

any list that doesn't have When Girls Telephone Boys is instantly disqualified.

I'd need some time to put together an actual list... I think at least 10 of those would make it.

Could I make a Deftones list? I'm not sure, I know my top three are like My Own Summer, Mascara and Passenger but then there's also Beware and Tempest and shit then there's Prince and now Genesis and The Spell of Mathematics and.....

So reading through his list right now a couple things:

1) ummm Diamond Eyes title track is about Chi’s accident? I’ve never heard this.

2) he says Chino coined SNW after falling asleep on his wrist. I specifically remember it being a feeling when going through withdrawals. “Being alone on a Saturday night with just your shaking wrist”

 

I recently made a friend a 20 track deftones playlist and that alone was tough.

 

I remember it being this but as a general term for people who party too hard and wake up with out feeling in their arms after falling asleep on them. I don't know if Chino ever did that himself.

 

No it is a reference to the temporary paralysis of your wrist if you sleep on it. I've heard them talk about it. Don't know if it was based on something that happened or if Chino just heard it somewhere.

Forgive me I’m not saying Chino actually did that just that’s what he got the term from. Again though I thought he was referencing drug withdrawals.

 

The bigger deal for me is the DE meaning. I never heard it was a direct response to Chi’s accident.

also the self-titled ~*narrative*~ is strong, can’t believe how many people unquestionably parrot it and fundamentally misunderstand what makes that record work

 

Top 1% listener of Deftones this year, apparently this album was the thing I listened to most by a long stretch. My top 5 songs are all from this album lol.

 

Yeah they were my top 5 artist which really surprised me. Thought for sure they would be 1 or 2. Though apparently Ohms was my most listened to track of the year. Which is funny cuz it’s my least fav on the album lol.
