haha I got that too - holy shit I forgot I ordered that...not surprising since I ordered it back on 10/13/2021!

Haha, they're going to get it to us under the wire of the one-year wait!

  6. Okay, as of right now I still prefer Thank You For Today for this album but that has way more to do with the quality of TYFT than any faults of this record. I don't get the qualms with that one. It's not exactly on the level of their first five records, but it's close.

I'm on the "these two albums are pretty even, I might like the new one a little better" but agree with your general thoughts on TYFT. The narrative around this one is that they finally got their groove back, and I just personally think they got it back one album earlier.

I feel like TYFT is a good album with three great songs.

  10. I think this is way better than TYFT (an album I quite like) but I think TYFT is essential in helping them get to this point. Kintsugi is kind of the end of a road imo and TYFT reestablished a working order

Listened to Codes & Keys for the first time in a minute. I'm always pleasantly surprised by how much I actually enjoy most of this album.

TYFT and Codes and Keys are the twizzlers of death cab.

Rand McNally fucking hits when you’re walking home from the train in a really contemplative mood.

Listened to Kintsugi for I think literally the first time last night after a few drinks and realized I would not ever been a good reviewer of things in general, but especially after a few drinks because I enjoy almost everything after a few drinks so my thoughts were like, “hey this is good!”, “this is good too!”, “this isn’t as good as that other one that was good but it’s still pretty good”

Overall is still felt ‘lesser’ than most of their albums to me but certainly not bad by any means. Think I may try to do a discography run in chronological order on Saturday because why not

I've listened to this album 3 times and I still don't know how I feel about it. I just know I like TYFT more lol

After a few listens I really like this but I really like the last two as well. It’s pretty even for me between the three but I will say Foxglove is the best song I’ve heard from them in a long time. Also, I feel like I’m the only person that actually likes Gold Rush lol

I don’t hate Gold Rush, it’s a solid tune, just not something I enjoy listening with my full attention

  21. Gold Rush is a great live song

That “Gold Rush” chant low key kills the song for me.

I enjoy TYFT but I think Asphalt Meadows is their best record in a while.

  24. 20 posts saying “Gold Rush” and we still haven’t matched how many are in the song itself.
