First Listen: Deafheaven, 'Ordinary Corrupt Human Love'

 

I haven't heard a note of this but just started Honeycomb - OK, shit, now I'm awake.

 

I feel like even for Deafheaven, this may be somewhat polarizing. Personally I'm already loving it.

 

Since I’ve waited this long without even listening to the singles, I might as well wait until my record shows up. I’m keen on everyone’s thoughts tho

 

Night People sounds like Radiohead with a bit of Eisley. Loving this album, might be my favorite of theirs.

 

only two songs in but this is probably going to be my favorite deafheaven record lol

only recently got into them, really. always loved dreamhouse but didn't get into the rest of the record until a month or so ago. new bermuda was too dark for me. this is fantastic so far

 

that guitar part during the last minutes of honeycomb is the most moving thing i've heard from them since dream house goddamn

Reading the first reactions on /r/Metal and /r/Deafheaven couldn't be more different. So funny to see.

I am loving all the gaze on this. Just started Night People and there is nothing I'd change so far.

Immediately one of the most visceral and triumphant albums I’ve heard all year

 

holy shit this is good. New Bermuda remains an album I can't really stomach (it's great, but way too dark), but this is a more experimental Sunbather with much less straight BM than I had expected and these fucking EUPHORIC melodies that make my heart soar. (and I'm otherwise miserable at the moment so that's really hard for music to do right now.)

 

every song on this is completely fucking ridiculous. i love it
