We could have a cool Batgirl movie, but no, they'd rather peddle this dumpster fire.

I don't know why so many people want such a mediocre franchise to continue.

Half of them seem to only like Snyder due to being contrarians and disliking "fun and comedic" superhero films. If the Marvel/DC rivalry wasn't there a lot wouldn't be on that ship.

Wouldn’t that be contractually impossible anyway? Warner Bros. platform is HBO and WB calls the shots when it comes to the DCU as they retain the rights. Why on Earth would they “sell” a variant of those rights to a competing platform set in an alternate universe they’re working tirelessly to be rid of?

Not sure why you're trying to apply logic when we're clearly dealing with werewolves.

A straight line can be drawn from 80s trash like The Killing Joke (which Alan Moore rightfully renounced fairly quickly), to the industry-defining shit of the 00s like Civil War and Identity Crisis, to the vocal online fandom who still want the DC “Snyderverse.”

Anyways, I’m still eager for the first Rebel Moon teaser! I believe that’s supposed to come this summer.

Does James Gunn have any involvement in the conversation at WB surrounding The Flash? They’re rebooting the whole thing, it’s the perfect excuse to drop the movie if they’re “trying to be neutral” or whatever bullshit they’d call it. If they don’t want to take a stance, it seems like they have a real easy out

I’m pretty sure, by the time Gunn & Safran got started, that Flash movie and everything surrounding it was way too far along for cancelation to be remotely on the table. WBD has made some wild tax write-off and licensing choices lately, but that movie’s unfortunately happening regardless.

I’d be shocked if Gunn used Ezra Miller any time soon past that prior commitment, though.

I think they are going to pretend that Ezra and The Flash have potential to matter for the future of DC until it comes out.

It just feels like the perfect scenario to use The Flash as a splinter point to whatever universe Gunn is creating, and let that one be the main one we are in going forward. Maybe some actors are the same (Gadot), maybe others are different.

  17. This is my feeling as well. If WB is dead set on releasing this movie, at least use it to reset the universe going forward.

Aquaman 2 is in the most awkward position being a DCEU movie getting released a year after it's announced that this continuity is no more.

“It sucks that WBD is set on releasing the Ezra Miller Flash; they should make it the launch of their new continuity” is a bizarre pair of sentiments, imo.

  19. "Launch" is a strong term. I'm not saying include the Flash movie in the new continuity. I'm just thinking from a general audience perspective and for people who don't pay attention to all the DC drama going on. Like, I know I'm going to have to explain all the background stuff when my parents and friends ask me where all the old DC actors are in the new crop of movies.

just had to do this after watching Black Adam

Don't really see what you are getting at? I'm not saying to use Miller as the herald of the new DCU, I hope WB never work with them again. But the actions of Barry in The Flash could be a perfect story point to explain why there are different actors playing characters now (the timeline was screwed up, new reality created, etc etc idk comic book stuff). Especially since it seems Gunn is using some existing people and some new.

I'm saying it would be a good narrative tool since it seems they are not just starting over (which I wish they were)

“They [Gunn and Safran] have been great. [...] We're actually supposed to meet in the next few weeks because they want to talk to me about the broad plan, and then they want to hear the BatVerse plan. We're just getting together to talk about all of that."

I believe there was a private presentation today that the trades are supposed to report on tomorrow.

I’m not expecting too much, because being happily surprised is better than disappointment. But, something more concrete about Superman plans would be nice.
