yeah I'm actually shocked that nothing has been officially released from the show other than the theme song. Really feels like there is a huge missed opportunity with soundtrack releases

 

yeah I don't get it either

it can't be that it's a case of life imitating art. so what then?

 

I assume they aren’t full songs? Like he probably didn’t write anything beyond what you hear in the show

 

That's gotta be what it is, I've wondered the same. But something like Amy's song, you hear a full song during the credits, so that's at least one that could be released... right?!?!

He hasn't released anything in years. It's safe to say he's nervous about this second release defining who he is musically.

He did post that there was music coming soon when he talked about making the finale

 

Might just be waiting until there's enough material from the show for a big soundtrack release. Could be a whole other season before that happens

 

If it's not a Lil Dicky album, they could just do a Dave soundtrack and add stuff by Gata, Doja Cat, etc. to fill in the rest.

 

Have we considered that he might struggle with writing new songs in real life, just as much as he does in the show?
Or he's just been to busy producing this.

 

honestly you are probably right, I mean, he hasn't released more than.... 2? Lil Dicky songs in the last like, 5 years or more

 

I mean.. it's impossible for me to read this quote from an interview he did in april 2021, and not think it's Dave from the show just lying to everyone about how much of the album's finished

He says this is simply how his creative mind works, "It’s crazy that it’s taking me this long, but for whatever reason it is. I certainly have an incredible base of music, I could put out an album by now, you know what I mean? I feel like I’m three songs away from putting out the album that I want to. There are just a few things that I want to achieve, a few different styles that I haven’t really gotten down perfectly yet."

The star attributes the slowdown to his inability to multitask, "I have trouble multitasking and being like, 'I’m on-set now, then I’m gonna come home and do music,' like I kinda need to shift my brain. So, my brain will be shifted very soon and then I’ll get back to it."
