so realistically if you've followed this band, 4 of the 9 songs were already released...

Man... not sure about some of the pop/edm/reverby synth sounds in some of these songs. I see why this is on FBR now ha.

I think he sounds good on this album and the guitar driven songs are good too.

We Fight, Catch You, HBH, Just What To Say are so good.

Open My Eyes reminds me of Jimmy Eat World...so that was my favorite song on the first listen haha.

EDIT: Its better than I was expecting, but not as good as I was hoping it to be. Shall see how time treats it. Hoping he releases other stuff sooner than later. 9 songs for 30 minutes just still seems odd to me.

    into it (at varying levels):

    we fight
    about us
    heartbeat here
    belong
    open my eyes
    just what to say

    over it:

catch you (upset because i always really liked that demo, doesn't translate full band for me)
    crooked shadows
    be alright

agree with the previous poster...these synth-ish sounds are a bit much. i could do without it on pretty much every song.

  5. I would be very mad at JEW if they wrote that chorus. haha.

hahaha. That part did throw me off, but in the back of my head I know JEW would actually deliver if it were them. I like the vibe of the song. Especially the verses and pre-chorus.

yeah....I can see myself coming back to this here and there...there are some good songs, but i'm somewhat disappointed that this was a product of 8 years in the making.

Still stoked to get my vinyl though haha.

First listen and I was not "wowed" by any of these. I have loved We Fight from the first listen though. Not to say these won't grow on me but man...9 years for these 9 songs?
I did particularly enjoy Catch You - although those Synth's were a little bit of overkill for my liking.

"One track for every year we've been gone... and a bonus song!" For me, it's an incomplete record, and another two songs would, IMO, assist in shaping the overall sound. On first listen, the synth parts are far more head-scratching than alluring. There wasn't enough time for my ears to adapt to the electronic elements of the production. I mean, no iTunes-exclusive deluxe edition or some shit?! :cringe::-p I am genuinely curious if there are b-sides that will see the light of day, because I want to know what Chris cut out.

That all said, when Chris goes back to guitar-driven songs, he sure knows how to write an anthem. Favorite tracks: We Fight, About Us, Heart Beat Here, Just What to Say; Belong isn't bad, but it's not quite my taste. Another two tracks would have been ideal, though. Sorry DC; Brian Fallon is going to get far more coverage on my end.

Just hit play, damn the first song is great regardless of how I end up feeling about the rest.

Yea not sure this is going to be my thing ha.. damn. This could be the first dashboard album I don’t like.

It’s weird you have these big synth choruses but there’s still a buried acoustic guitar haha

Be alright is pretty good but I still feel like the song doesn’t have a ton of substance.
The bridge is freakin awesome tho

Okay the closer is awesome. Idk it’s dashboard so I’ll keep coming back to it And I’ll probably even listen to it to learn the songs ha.

Overall on first listen tho I’d give it a 6/10 and say it’s the weakest dashboard record to date.

The more I listen to Catch You the more I wish I could just mute the synth. Bridge is sweet and its catchy, but that demo version is soooo good.

Just What You Say, HBH, Open My Eye, We Fight, and maybe Be Alright........dammit.....I really wish the other songs were like these ones.

    I. DONT. UNDERSTAND.

Yes it does, the verses also have some weird vocal delivery. I like the prechorus tho.

This was doomed from the start based solely on how much I love Alter The Ending. Its decent, not great.
