I was thinking this too. I think it’s likely permanent but they left just enough ambiguity to create some confusion.

Incredibly tough situation for them to be in re: the album. The bit about it being Tim's last work really hits hard.

Probably some erm…emotional reasons too considering how unstable tilian seems to be…I could see them not wanting to send him spiraling by outright saying you’re fired and never coming back even though that’s what they really mean here. Given his behavior in both recent fan accounts I really think that’s what’s going on with the stepping away wording.
