I'll probably start with bathroom reading haha.

The commute that I have now is 25 min with my kids then 25 min with me figuring out if I'm going to get fast food breakfast or come home and eat.

Also I really think I need to disconnect from technology in order to start reading so I need to get a physical book.

I really can't do audio books (my mind wanders too much and I don't absorb it in the same way as when I read it) and I want to cut my screen time plus I hate reading on screens, so I read physical books. Reading before bed is good for me cause it helps me wind down and gets me away from technology. I have the same problem as you, I'm always doing multiple things at once - like doing this and browsing other sites and watching something at the same time.

Dedicating a set period every day to read is hard when you have kids I'm sure but before bed after they're already in might work for you, or when they're at school or day care or wherever you take them. You just have to make it a priority.

I mean I've been reading 1Q84 for months because I only read about a chapter a night if that, but at least it's something.

 

I do have to rewind a lot when listening to audiobooks because my mind wanders. Same with podcasts

 

Yeah just need to pick a book that I'll stick to.

 

SK has written a lot of books since you were in high school. Haha

 

This is what happened to me when I would read. I'd end up reading the same page 4 or 5 times before I would give up.

When I was a kid I always had a stack of books by my bed that I was reading at any one time. My family would always buy me books and I could be reading 10 at once. I still read but not nearly as much as I used to. My smartphone definitely takes time away from reading and I hate that.
