I’m sorry, but Zelda has never been about the story. I absolutely adore those games, they are so special to me, but there’s never been a good Zelda story

 

Majoras Mask story was great and Wind Waker had a good plot as well

 

But also Breath Of The Wild was bland as fuck

 

It's very rare for a game to have a great story if you ask me. Gameplay matters way more than story to me.

 

I’d say they were better in that there was a base story there but that’s certainly not why I love those games.

BOTW is way way too open to have a solid linear storyline, impossible. You decide to order of the events of everything.

Wind Waker has long been my favorite Zelda game but I feel like BotW usurped that and is easily one of the best games I’ve ever played
