Yeah that’s a tough situation to be in. You don’t owe him anything but if you wanted to be nice and help him you could but do it without the expectation of getting it back. If you do, great, but don’t expect it. This similar situation happened between two guys in my friend group and the guy that lent the money randomly flipped out on him in our group text and it was very awkward for everyone else.

I feel sick over the situation. I’m gonna lend him the money I guess. I just wish it wasn’t like this. He’s been my friend since we were 15 or 16. I feel like breaking down over this. He shares the apartment with this woman who is like 25 years older and an extremely negative influence on his life. I can’t stand her. But I don’t know how I could live with myself if I didn’t help him avoid not having a place to live. I also feel like I’m enabling him by helping. Ugh.

yeah I meant more like as a general figure as it applies to my life specifically, that job is hard enough to warrant much more and definitely when you've been somewhere for over a decade and certainly when colleges charge the shit out of students to go there
