I cannot wrap my head around the idea that a racist rant in a comedy club is okay but if you say the same thing on stage somewhere else, with identical intent, that’s where the line is crossed.

 

I guess it goes to show my instincts were right when I found Tony Hinchcliffe completely unfunny. I couldn't believe the hype he got at the Tom Brady roast as when I watched his segment back, it did nothing for me and every clip social media has tried to show me of KillTony or whatever the hell it is, I've sent right back.

And the whole 'I make fun of everyone' argument is so pathetic and weak and stupid... also know your audience because
all they probably heard 'hey... ya'll heard of this piece of shit country called Puerto Rico??? It's gross amiright?'.

 

Didn't even know that was happening, but he's been a hack for a while now. Extremely weird to actually see him doing comedy for a Trump rally

 

I forgot who it was I think possibly Stavros that once talked about "the army of hack middle acts that followed Rogan to Austin to be in his orbit" and I am pretty sure that was specifically about Tony in particular lol

 

I want to personally thank my wife for immediately saying “This is not funny. This is horrible and I hate this” the time I naively played a Kill Tony episode for her nearly a decade ago. It instantaneously broke the spell I had unintentionally been lured into after numbing myself to that early wave of Rogen podcast personalities who were still overlapping with non-Rogen podcasts as guests at the time. I was really embarrassed and felt dumb that I let it get that far and, somehow, that era is now quaint compared to what that scene has since become.

 

I'm not immune to having liked, and probably still liking some comedians that others would deem problematic, but in this case, it's such a weird / ill conceived joke. I really don't understand what the thought process was or where the satire / cleverness was supposed to be. It was just literally calling a territory of the US, full of a majority of non-white people, a floating pile of garbage to a room full of people who have made immigrants the scape goat of their problems, and focus of their election campaign. Like, can any defender of his explain the joke? The only part that's 'jokey' is the set up... 'you think I'm talking about one thing but I'm really talking about something else', but still... what the hell... truly a braindead / tone deaf / career defining gaffe.

 

Imagine dying on a hill for the most hack shit ever. Him saying "it was taken out of context" is the funniest thing he's said considering, the context is he's at a Nazi rally just making racist comments and trying to play them off as like a jester speaking truth to power

 

Love Maron calling out other comics. If memory serves, he also had a great bit about it in his last special or two, as well.

This is funny... What's not is that I watched the whole 12min Tony segment and oh boy.... it was so incredibly awkward and unfunny and yeah, full on 'i support Trump and his crazy ideas' while also roasting people that Trump is trying to court at the last minute. They were uncreative, mean spirited, and just bizarre as the people he was insulting (black & latino people) clearly aren't in on the jokes. You can tell he treated it like a regular roast, except the people he was roasting aren't millionaires in on it and getting a paycheck to be insulted for 10 minutes per comedian.

It's hilarious how much of a disaster it is but I imagine he will weather the storm with a large portion of his fanbase eating up how the libs are upset.

 

Hinchcliffe has always sucked even within that bubble of comedians he lives in. Everytime a Kill Tony clip comes up on my feed, he’s the worst part of it.

 

I heard Hasan say recently "in the current right wing influencer-phere you only benefit from doubling down on your racism/homophobia/transphobia/misogyny when you are in a cancellation scenario. If they apologize or walk back in any way now they are in a situation where both the people who are offended still hate them and their core toxic fanbase now hates them too for backing down, so there is no upside for them to do so"

This was really funny and watching the effects reverberate across all their friends' streams has been incredible. DBJ, in the neck brace, freaking out and threatening to kill JF and Stefan because they don't recognize any of their year+ subscribers was amazing.
