New York Comedy Club Posts Bizarre Explanation for Mark Normand Incident | Cracked.com

"Normand also posted his own explanation of last night’s events on his own Instagram in a Story he titled, “The good ole corporate statement from my publicist.” In it, Normand (or Normand’s PR person) wrote, “No one was harmed or injured during my performance last night at New York Comedy Club. The disruption was part of a planned ‘surprise’ activity by show producers, HiHi (instagram.com/Hi_Hi). I had no prior knowledge that this was going to happen.” As it turned out, that “surprise” was just a wanna-be influencer hopping onstage and bringing the comedy night to an awkward halt.

The Instagram page named by Normand and New York Comedy Club as the perpetrators of the stunt further confuses the narrative of last night. HiHi posted a series of Stories showing different camera angles and reactions to the stage-stormer, and their posts are a mishmash of, apparently, lifestyle aspirations and other people’s artwork. Their story highlights show a series of “applicants” answering the question, “How far would you go for a life you’ve always dreamed of?” and more videos on the page seem to suggest that the account was in some way involved in the ”heist” of a pair of custom shoes designed by New York artist Timothy Goodman for an exhibition."

So some bullshit influencers fucked up an actual comedy show as part of some viral marketing nonsense? Sounds incredibly lame.

It sounds like it’s just actors doing viral marketing for maybe Mr. And Mrs. Smith?

Nothing makes me less interested/actively hostile towards a product than viral marketing, especially if the viral marketing is being obnoxious and purposely fucking with people.

Mark Norman is probably just in on it too? Why would his “publicist” plug the IG otherwise?

Something stunk immediately with how many times I saw that clip today…there’s really nothing too noteworthy about it. In the link posted above to reddit, the OP is a new user who posted that vid to a bunch of subreddits that would garner attention

edit: lol no bites on any of the other posts outside of r/comedy either

New Peacock show, In the Know looks right up my alley. Zack Woods, Mike Judge and Carl Tart doing stop motion animation.

They ended up redoing all the claymation those guys did and just keeping their voice overs.

I saw Mike birbiglia last night and it was my first comedy show that I paid for and wasn't like a bar that also had free comedy night. I was always curious about comedians re-telling jokes like "I've heard that joke why would i hear it again cause i know the punchline?" Which is admittedly stupid cause some jokes make you laugh each time. And yeah when he re-told his sleep walking in walla walla story and thinking he had a learning disability as a kid I got so excited to re-hear them (only having heard them on recordings). It was great. Also growing up near walla walla, it always makes the sleepwalking story near and dear to my heart.

But I swear to God some people laugh just to have a laugh that stands out. I was convinced a handful of people were just one-upping to see who could have the loudest laugh. And the show was funny for sure but idk lol I guess some people can't help if they have a laugh that stands out. It sounds silly to be like "why u laughing at a comedy show bro?" So I acknowledge these thoughts are dumb. But a few people it almost felt like wanted to laugh loud and hard enough to stand out and have Mike comment on it or something but maybe I'm just a judgey mcjudgerson

How does Sirius have money? They give Stern like 200 million a year. The only people I know that have it have a free trial.
