I can see her characters not being for some folks but she is talented and legitimately funny any way you slice it. She has a definite lane and her confidence and commitment gets her most of the way, which reminds me of the Groundlings style of comedy, at least on podcasts. I’ve been out of the live show loop in LA for a while, so I haven’t seen her improvise live outside a character-focused format, so I’m not sure if she’s more herself and plays with different levels in a regular improv show format. She’s already in that upper echelon of improvisers, doing the fun veteran mash up shows with dudes 20 years older than her it looks like.

(I actually haven’t been to UCB LA in like 10+ years but, funnily enough, my streak is going to break as I’m performing there this Friday! )

 

I enjoyed her on doughboys but all her characters are basically the same. She comes in with like 5 phrases she repeats over and over and over. The only one I like is her and Drew doing the pig shit twins.

 

All I need is a couple funny lines in a silly voice and I'm laughing.

The celebrity toilet being number one was insane. I feel like it was number one just because PFT couldn’t stop laughing for 5 minutes. It wasn’t very funny!

Oh shit Mike Hanford is doing a show at our tiny comedy club on February 3rd (bottlerocket for the Pittsburgh heads). And Beth Stelling in April!

Apparently Will Sasso put out a full length George Carlin AI comedy special. Fuck that guy.

I didn’t buy Han man tickets yet but I did snag tickets to the Nirvana cover band doing the entire unplugged set.

 

Will Sasso has a podcast where they fuck around with AI a bunch. I don't listen but follow him on IG and occasionally see the weird Tom Hanks movie trailers. I always assumed it was an anti-AI thing, but people are really mad about the "Carlin" special

 

someone in the politics thread said the AI uploaded it by itself? have no idea how true that is, I've barely paid attention to the story

 

It was uploaded by Dudesy, Will Sasso’s podcast. It’s so stupid because you know Carlin would absolutely hate it. They knew they were being provocative with it, otherwise why not do any other dead comedian? It sucks and lord, I hope this does not become a trend.

 

Speaking of, watched half of the Pete Davidson special. The first 10 minutes were pretty funny and then he tries to be a storyteller and it’s just awful.

 

I have nothing to back this up but I have a weird feeling that whole Dudesy thing is all smoke and mirrors and not actually AI. Still dumb either way imo.

Came out this week, I think. I liked his last special. This one just was not for me.

 

yeah he's an asshat at times but I think he gets too much shit and is generally funny, I know that's a hot take around here.
