I would LOVE to see more comedians bomb. I'm sure if I went to smaller shows or open mic nights it would happen, but I long to see a somewhat established comic just eat shit on stage.

edit: I realize this is probably harsh. I don't really wish it on the comic, just think it can be fun to witness

 

this week's High & Mighty is a univeral recommendation, really good earnest discussion on comedic process and a lot on bombing

New Beatles song they played on today’s YKS was really good imo I don’t know how they could say it wasn’t.

 

Definitely! Feel like it was a microcosm of the conversations in here, down to where they talked about Shane Gillis and how he’s funny but hangs out with bad people. Really dug it.

 

i was not familiar with Jesse David Fox prior, but really found him charming and started cherrypicking eps of his pod Good One to listen to. def recommend the PFT Peanut Brittle EP if you liked this Gabrus talk

Good Ones is a very good podcast. Like Gabrus said, comedy journalism is super rare because it either doesn’t pay or insane fans run people off platforms like Seth Simons. I don’t always agree with Jesse David Fox, but he’s clearly dedicated to the craft and has a ton of knowledge about it.

 

Good Ones is great. I just put in a request for his book at my local library.

Scott and Scott being dumb and making each other laugh kills me. One of the best shows.

 

I could have listened to a full hour of Scott playing Adam songs with Cadillac in the title and them laughing whenever it comes up in the song. So good.

 

Matt Rife’s Netflix special is pretty great. He’s super self-aware and has a lot of humility that you wouldn’t gather from his social media presence. I was consistently cracking up.

My conservative coworker has mentioned Rife multiple times and I've seen him blow up recently, so I just assumed the worst, but maybe my assumptions were wrong and I should check him out?

I’ll give it like 10 minutes but that dude has never once made me laugh. If you like crowd work watch Stavvy.

 

As monotonous as it can seem, comedians share crowd work so they don’t burn their actual material on social media.

 

saw a tiktok this morning of someone who was upset that she spent $100 to see matt rife on his recent tour when she could have just watched the netflix special because "its the exact same show" and i witnessed in real time a bunch of Gen Z kids realize how stand up comedy tours work.

 

Comedians should do a completely different hour every night and retelling jokes is back

 

I mean to be fair, isn’t it usually pretty standard practice that a comedian retires an hour once the filmed special is out?
