Also Jo Firestone running this writer's room is giving me hope we're going to get people like Joe Pera, Conner O'Mallley, Chris Gethard, Connor Ratliffe, ect as regular panelist. Like I hope this feel like The Chris Gethard Show,.but a game show version.

I've loved his new podcast this year, been looking forward to his new special for a while

no clue but I gotta imagine he filmed the whole thing in Baltimore, he's been hyping it up on the pod for what feels like forever

 

The original run of the show got me into so many comedians and so many of the podcasts i listen to had people who wrote/worked on the show.

 

Yeah TCGS, especially the public access era really formulated my current taste in comedy. It occurred to me recently the first time I ever saw Joe Pera was on the public access TCGS like a decade ago.

 

I meant the original run of @midnight but i also understand the same happening with Gethard, so many great people around that show aswell

 

Yeah with the people involved I get the feeling its going to be a merger the the two scenes around both shows. Like the LA comedy scene of @midnight meets the New York UCBNY/Alt-comedy scene that Firestone was involved in.

Probably an unpopular opinion, and I love the Doughboys, Nicole and Betsy/Mano, but I hope he has different guests this time.

 

One lucky person who started performing at UCB after 2013 will be selected at random to be a guest.

 

This is pretty funny. I'd recommend it. He's from Dallas and his special was filmed like 20 minutes from me. It's on Netflix.

Seeing Conner out of character , just being himself, not acting insane is very jarring.

When was the last time you saw someone absolutely bomb at a comedy club?

i went to a show a few weeks ago with some mates. It was all smaller comedians in UK. Great compere building up great report with audience. First act was from local area, decent enough set for someone relatively new. The second comedian was phenomenal, everyone in the room in stitches laughing. So im thinking to myself "Well surely the headliner is going to be epic". HOW I WAS WRONG. It was like watching someone in work tell a story that just bombs in the office. Terrible. Im often at shows which maybe arent my style, but appreciate the humour, but the whole audience were like WTF?

Appreciate pretty boring story, but im interested to hear your stories!

 

I went to a show at a local comedy club a few years back and the owner of the club, who had to be at least 70, did a set before the actual opener. And he had the energy of a 70 year old man too. When he started, the audience thought he was maybe just doing an extended welcome/intro and threw him some polite chuckles. And then it just kept going. Nothing particularly egregious but it just wasn’t funny and everybody was clearly wondering when the hell he was gonna get off the stage. One of the longest fifteen minutes of my life.
