This is fair. My friend's college had funding pulled for library renovations for dealing with sexual assault properly, it was so crazy fucked up

 

Wait what?....they dealt with it properly...so they couldn't renevate the library?

 

yeah like there were actual consequences for the rapist, and then some people higher up took away funding. it was truly wild

 

That's super fucked up. The university I went to covered up a rape case to preserve their basketball team line up.

The university I currently go to let Milo Yiannopoulos openly mock a trans student with an entire auditorium of people openly cheering on his hate speech.

Fucking sick of higher education. I openly denounce both Marquette University and UWM on a daily basis.

 

dude might have been an athlete, would make sense for them if they went so far if he was because college sports / football is so big in the southeast. truly a scummy situation
i don't understand why higher education doesn't understand that freedom of speech does not have to encompass hate speech. that shit is actually violent, i don't think the vast majority of people don't hear a slur against them and not feel like it's a threat aimed at their general direction.

MEANWHILE SUP THREAD IT'S 3 AM AND I HAVE CLASS IN SIX HOURS AND AN ASSIGNMENT DUE BECAUSE I DON'T LEARN, EVER

 

Senioritis has hit me hard this semester too. There's one class I've only been to two classes the entire semester. The professor is one I've had many times int he past, and attendance isn't required thankfully. The other classes (Internship and Psych in Writing) don't have actual classes. I have shitty papers premade up for them.

 

I've had senioritis since the eighth grade but also shout out to you for having it figured out, premade papers and all, v nice

I am not a fan of capitalism but I wish I was wealthy so I could relax about these midterms and not flip out about maybe losing the scholarship essential to my education ya know it'd be really nice to just relax a lil bit

 

i have 3 exams, and 3 papers due in the next week. i might die

 

I just finished my last midterm after having three and a couple of papers so I feel ya. But when you make it through, it feels so so good. Good luck! Try not to forsake sleep like I had to, ha.

 

i've been hyping myself up for graduating next spring 2018. been looking into grad programs, looking into taking the gre in the summer, and generally just stoked on life that this moment is finally coming.

but i'm just now realizing that even tho i'm double minoring, i will still be six credits short of making the minimum to graduate by doing my reg course load (4 courses/semester). i was gonna take 5 this semester but i couldn't do it while also working. looked into summer and winter semesters and they cost an outrageous amount of money that isn't covered by financial aid either.

i just want to fucking graduate and get a shitty job. by shitty, i mean one that is better than part-time retail, which is shittier (i've never in my made more than 14k a year, so even a 9-5 @ 24k would greatly improve my life).

college life is bogus and can be summed up in just one phrase: "can i live?"

 

Lol, my History professor made me stay after class the other day and was like, "Hey man, you're a really talented writer and I can tell that you're pretty bored by this class. Is there anything I can do to make this more interesting for you? Do you ever wanna come in and teach a lesson? Do a powerpoint or something? I don't give a shit." It was flattering but also made me question his judgment as I continue to turn in hot garbage on a weekly basis haha. This is my problem, and it's going to sound like a humble-brag so I apologize, but I am a terrible student, I don't study, and I write all my papers last minute but I still get good grades. The only problem is that once I transfer I know this methodology is going to bite me in the ass so hard and I'm going to be fucked and I'm legitimately scared. It's worked out at community college but next semester I'll be at an actual university and it ain't gonna fly.

 

Community college is just as legitimate and it's just as variable as a university

Which is to say that shit can totally fly at university, haha. Standards are real low, which sucks imo makes for some boring classes often times til you get to major specific stuff

 

Trust me, as a third year history major at a large university, not doing any of the reading and writing papers last minute without really knowing what you're talking about can absolutely get you good grades

 

This gives me hope...and is also a little disheartening

 

As someone who transferred from a cc to uni last year, it can totally fly. In fact, I've probably been turning in the worst papers I've ever written and am getting great feedback.
