Two listens in this morning...three total since it came out last night...

This album really couldn't have come out at a better time. It's definitely meant to come out now. Not earlier. Not later. Now. We all had to endure two years of uncertainty. Some are still having to endure the misery of that past two years while slowly making improvements. Some are, unfortunately, stained with permanent misery. As a whole, we finally seem like we are at the beginning stages of being able to reflect on that misery and tell it to fuck off.

In a way, the misery was a blessing because we were all forced to self-reflect and hold tight to what's really important us as individuals. Some of that reflection reminded us that we lost sight of just HOW important something truly is to us, even if we already knew it was an important part of us. Jason nailed it in his review because, for me, music definitely took on a stronger meaning during this time period. I always had passion for it, but reflecting back to the beginning of my version of misery, I definitely developed a whole new appreciation and relationship with music. Something I didn't recognize was there over the past 10+ years.

Like...legit EVERYONE can relate to the context of this album to some extent.

Music really does mend broken hearts, Jason!

This is just a stone cold, great, rock and roll record. No complaints at all.

going to spinning this plenty, especially as the weather is warming up. Excited to tether some moments to these chords

I feel like Paradise had way more Gaslight influence where this feels waaaaay more Green Day than Gaslight, to me.

And I’m legit cool with either comparison because this album is so good. It sounds so much bigger and fuller and every song is such a banger. They stepped up huge and I cannot wait to blast this all summer.

i haven’t heard any of their previous stuff and I may have “tricked” myself into the Gaslight comment because as soon as I saw the cover for this I thought, “that reminds me of the cover for The 59 Sound a bit” and after a few songs I thought “huh this kind of sounds like Gaslight too” lol.

There is definitely some Gaslight here, but Green Day is the primary influence I'd say.

It’s like Green Day, Loved Ones, Gaslight Anthem, and Against Me! took kids off the street, raised them, and called them Cold Years.

Definitely more Green Day than anything else here. Almost distractingly so for myself... but I'll stick with it

A lot of it is very Green Day but it's also the best Green Day album in at least 13 years, so I'm cool with it haha

I finally figured out who Ross' grit and voice reminds me of! Ross has way more of a melodic tone but:

Jimmy from Polar Bear Club (before he severely damaged his voice)
