We reach for the longest shadow

i think there is a good argument for it being the best coheed pop/single type song.

NWFT is pretty great. i think as i've gotten older i've enjoyed Coheed's pop songs more than the HEAVY tracks or whatever so i'm a big fan of NWFT

I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

Been on a huge Coheed bing over the last 2 days, their material still holds up!

I've pretty much always felt that way.

Reminds me of Chiodos/Craig Owens. Such a good pop punk songwriter who writes meh risecore music.

like, cinematic sunrise is clearly the best thing he's done, and 3 AM is the single best Chiodos song

thats whats great about coheed, the heavy stuff is there if you like it (IKS, Crowing, Welcome Home, Telling Truth, Domino, Gravity's Union) but the poppy stuff, while i dont prefer it over the more technical/proggy/heavier stuff, is still really really good.

that is a chiodos take i do not agree with but this is not the time or the place for that, haha.

Feathers is one of the only songs on NWFT that I don't really liked and out of all the possible ones, bummed it was single lol.

Anyone ever see their Guitar Center Sessions? Their performance of Favor House is my go to version when I want to hear that song. I go back and forth on Welcome home, I think the actual guitar solo sounds better on the GCS performance but love the epic choir vocals at the end of the studio track.....

Feathers is the fop diggity. In fact the opening 4 on NWFT are pretty dandy, and then they pooped out The Running Free and the disc never really recovers. It's just one of those Coheed songs that theoretically should work and just does not. Too much cheese from that point on: Gravemakers, Justice in Murder, Radio Bye-Bye - Coheed could do better and they knew it.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

I love Justice in Murder and Radio Bye-Bye. Overall, NWFT is an incredibly solid album that has some great songs.

YOTBR is their worst album, and honestly it isn't close

I made one of those little 1v1 picker things so I could rank all their songs, and Feathers was 14th. Definitely the best song from NWFT

Color Before the Sun comes close. It's just so incredibly formulaic.

I still enjoy TCBTS for what it is. It's probably my second least favorite, but it still has some great songs. Atlas, Island, Peace to the Mountain, there's some great stuff on there.

On YOTBR... there's barely anything I go back to. Juggernaut is the only one that I tend to listen to.

Far is one of the 3 best songs they've done since Good Apollo I

    hmmm

I think TCBTS is fucking brilliant. The choruses are huge.

YOTBR is definitely their worst, but it still has some awesome songs. The Broken, HWAJ, Far, Shattered Symphony, WORLD OF LINES, and In the Flames of Error are all sick (especially WOL) but the lows are really, really low. Guns of Summer sounds like, "Hey, we really did get Chris Pennie to play drums for us. He can play really technical stuff." Made out of Nothing is incredibly boring and one of the least inspiring vocal performances I've ever heard from Claudio. Pearl of the Stars and When Skeletons Live are OK i guess. Black Rainbow just frustrates me to no end as a closing song. It's just wildly inconsistent, and the production is definitely grating at times.

Guns of Summer is their worst song. Probably the only Coheed song I actively dislike. Also, Pearl of the Stars is fantastic

Worst songs? i could argue YOTBR, and Holly Wood as well, but yeah its bad.

yep. i just wish they wouldnt have tried to force out the audience as a "well, i guess we need at least one semi heavy song" shouldve just let the album be its bright happy self. Ghost into Atlas is so awesome to listen to.

The Black Rainbow is definitely my least listened to Coheed song but I don't dislike it, it's just kind of there lol. And I love Holly Wood, that "SHE'S A FEW CARDS SHORT OF A FULL DECK" part is ace

Also super into that one. The drums/bass in that second verse sealed the deal for me.

I know I never really bought into the whole Coheed story, but I thought when Claudio decided to deviate from that, he'd come up with better stuff lyrically than

    No I'm not mad
    Lean on me man

NWFT title track is a legitimate bright spot on what is, honestly, a shitpile of a record to me. There is absolutely no comparison between NWFT and GA:IV. Also, NWFT is easily worse than YOTBR.

I'd rather listen to all of NWFT then sit through another listen of YOTBR. Production is a mess on that album, on top of very mediocre songs

NWFT was a bit of a mess, but it at least had redeeming songs like the title track, The End Complete III, The Hound, and Mother fucking Superior. YOTBR didn't have much. I think the only song I go back to on the album is The Broken.

Mother Superior is better than every song on YOTBR. So is the Hound. Hell, so is Feathers.
