Interesting based on the lyric video and even the makeup of the song, seems they might be going a bit more electronic inspired? Pretty nifty

it's like a return to what they were trying to do with YOTBR but with less Joe Barresi and way more energy

That song is quite a ride

I get YOTBR vibes, more industrial than I’m used to Coheed sounding, chorus is mint though

This is kind of what I figured they were doing when I saw Cervini was producing. I was worried he was gonna take the Claudio out of Claudio melodically speaking but thankfully it seems like he didn't do that at all

It's the first single off of Vaxis II, Claudio confirmed that during the twitch stream earlier. He said something along the lines that he can't talk any more about the album because this is just the start of the process. If I were a betting man, I'd bet the album is revealed when the actual music video comes out for Shoulders.

Lollllll I was gonna comment something similar. It does kind of have that SiriusXM Octane feel a bit, but imo it's combined with enough of the classic Coheed sound that it works.

the production on this is wild, definitely a bit off putting at first, but it actually sounds pretty good. definitely a very modern sound as claudio described. it does lead into radio rock territory, but coheed does it well, and i'd love for this to blow up as a big single! the only thing i don't like is that fake club snare sound in the intro haha.

Might just be the first Coheed fan wanting shorter songs

These motherfuckers have been listening to a ton of royal blood haven’t they

    riff rules

the chorus is a very standard coheed chorus. Not that I’m upset about it, but they aren’t bringing anything new with it

We reach for the longest shadow

This is definitely what I expected from Coheed working with a pop producer, but I mean that in a good way. Riff is obviously really fun, Claudio’s vocals sound great, chorus is massive, solo is pretty cool, and Josh and Zack bring enough flare with the rhythm section to make it a little more interesting. I could understand if someone didn’t like the “fuzziness” of it, but I think it works here, although I hope the whole album doesn’t sound the same. Big alt rock vibes on this, but that’s not a bad thing in this case.

It’s not necessarily that I want shorter songs, I want songs that justify their length. Compare something like Toys that essentially stretches one good riff and one good chorus out to 6:30 to the multiple movements of a song like Fuel for the Feeding End with all it’s twists and turns and a mere 45 seconds longer runtime. I love long songs, I’m a prog guy. But Vaxis 1 is mostly a bunch of pop songs that are all dragged out to 5-6 minutes, and they mostly don’t justify it.

Song rips. As already said, that riff slaps you in the face, what a song.
