Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

I also just love how many little callbacks are on this album. I'm a sucker for callbacks and reprises

We reach for the longest shadow

'The New Universe': Frontman Claudio Sanchez Details Coheed and Cambria's Monster New LP 'Unheavenly Creatures'

Can you foresee The Amory Wars ever being moved into another medium, be it TV or film or some totally epic stage play?

Absolutely! For all the things that are being adapted, why not? I think Amory Warshas just as good a shot as any, the themes are very universal and it takes place in a really fantastic world. Sometimes some of us just need that release, to come outside of our realities.

Do you ever think you’ll reach a place where either the music or the story outlasts the other?
I think ultimately Coheed and Cambria and The Amory Wars are hand-in-hand. I don’t think one continues and the other goes.

And it’s fair to say that, considering this new album is just the first in a five-part series, Coheed isn’t going anywhere?
No. [Laughs.] Unless something catastrophic happens. There will be four more records to complete the Vaxis story and there are a lot of big reveals in it that lead us to understand where this story takes place, and who these characters are in the big makeup of The Amory Wars.

It seems like Claudio was at a crossroads where he was deciding if he wanted to do the band or be at home with his family (Pavilion), and now that he’s decided to do more Coheed albums he is ALL IN.

I kind of just think anyone that likes Coheed at all should like this. Unless you only like SSTB or something.

I haven’t loved a coheed album since NWFT but this is definitely on its way there.

I think I agree with this now that I think about it, I was never sold on either Afterman, I don't think I've listened to YOTBR in years (or more than like twice) and CBTS is good but never clicked for me.

Unfortunately, I’m not really having the same reaction as many with this. Just finished the pavilion.

But, first listens at work can be tricky things. So we will see.

oh you'll 100% love this. It's hooky and in your face like NWFT over top of instruments that could've been pulled from GA, NWFT, Afterman, and TCBTS (one song, but it's good).

"True Ugly" totally clicked for me today and now I can't stop replaying it

The Toys/Black Sunday/Queen/True Ugly stretch legit rivals most of their first three records, which is something I never imagined I'd be saying about new Coheed.

I’ve still only managed to make it to The Gutter for time reasons but I’m really happy with it so far. Claudio has never sounded better and it’s the perfect mesh of their previous sounds while still doing new things. I’m loving the callbacks and how well they’re incorporated without sounding like a rehash. The verses of Love Protocol remind me of Everything Evil in how Josh changes tempo(?) halfway through. My only complaint is that Travis’ leads are so buried. It’s a shame because it sounds like he’s doing a lot of interesting things. I’m just so happy Thrice and Coheed are still putting out fresh, inspired records this late in their careers.
