Truthfully that Studio 4 recording of Jet may be one of my favorite studio/session performances I've ever seen. I rarely go back to those after 1 listen, but that one is just way too good.

I've watched 4 times also made me feel like this is a band I have to see live now

Yep they kill it live. I can assume will only be better because they're going to be energized as hell after all the praise that's about to be showered on this album.

Do we expect this album to blow the band up? What's their ceiling? Could they reach the level of a band like MancOrch?

I absolutely think they can get to to that level, if not further. Of course this is assuming the album is actually as high quality as the 2 songs so far make it seem like it will be.

  7. The album is great, and so is Manchester, but to be completely fair, I think Manchester's ceiling rose because of their association with Brand New. Doesn't take away from their talent at all. I'm just not sure if Citizen's ceiling is that high (yet) or if there's a band in their circle that can help get them there. Who knows.

Imo Citizen is more accessible than Manchester. I could see Citizen landing a rock radio hit and getting big. I mean they're already playing a pretty comparable sized venue to Manchester in Chicago. I have no idea, maybe I'm way off, but it just kind of feels like there's something in the air right now with this album.

Thanks for the insight, I agree brand new certainly helped them. I thought a brand new citizen tour would work really well for citizen but obviously that's not happening; at least not this year

  10. I think I disagree with this statement simply based on the fact that this is really Citizen's first album with any radio potential at all (while also managing to be their weirdest). I mean, Youth isn't inaccesible, but there's not much there I could picture hearing on the radio, whereas there are tracks on every Manchester album (sans maybe I'm Like a Virgin) that are perfect for both college and mainstream rock radio. Unfortunately, I just don't think Citizen is there yet (and I'm not even sure that it's where they want to be).

But I could be totally wrong, and part of me hopes I am. Definitely not trying to invalidate your feelings at all!

Kinda off topic but what is the association bw MO and BN? Never really looked into it, is it just friendships like Kd?

  12. Yep. IIRC, Jesse Lacey and KDev go way back and Lacey met Andy Hull in 2006 when they were working on The Devil and God and I'm Like a Virgin, respectively. They would trade demos before the albums were finished and that's how they became friends. And then BN started taking MO out on tour and the rest is history

I'm hoping that BN will do a farewell tour next year and bring MO out as support.

Yea I see where you're coming from, rock radio might've been a reach. I don't know it's really just a gut feeling for me that they're going to do really well, but time will tell!

manchester has already had big time radio hits, haha. i've got friends was a top 10 alternative hit. they have three charting songs on the rock charts.

citizen isn't rock enough to be on rock radio and grunge isn't big enough right now to get on alt radio. not quite there yet

Ghost of Mormo was probably the hardest stage for me. This game got me even more excited to hear a studio version of Fever Days
