My interpretation of Anthony’s comment(s) is that LS Dunes is his main focus and he will schedule all his other projects around it, which is perhaps why Cove is now in Saosin again because I’m sure the other guys in Saosin have wanted to be more active while Anthony has been busy with mostly LS Dune and his solo stuff

this does make some sense. and now I’m a little bit amused at the thought of Saosin getting annoyed at Anthony being aloof from them.

I wish I liked that LS Dunes record as much as I thought I would, I still really dig the first single, but I never return to the album for some reason.

    this is all there is

Same. It is a good album of songs from dudes who know how to write good songs.

But I think collectively, these dudes are capable of creating a very great album, so it was a bit of a letdown. Looking forward to the next one, since they've had more time to get used to working together.

I finished a discog run of these guys over the weekend. It really hit me that they’re most likely done for the foreseeable future and that thought made me incredibly sad. Such a solid catalog with very rare misses. My ranking goes:

    Juturna
    Blue Sky Noise
    The Amulet
    On Letting Go
    Two Dreams
    Decensus
    Violent Waves

Crazy amount of discussion and wildly varied opinions going on in here that I've missed out on. I agree it's sad to accept knowing that we probably won't get another record from this group. I loved that they didn't have any lineup changes and had a consistent 'it factor' that made every song undeniably Circa. There's not many other bands I listen to that have had a core group for every creation and this strong / unique of a sound.

Juturna and OLG are 100% always going to be my top albums with the rest changing depending on the mood I'm in. There are good and bad songs on each album, and even if I like the production or not for some of the records varies on my mood. Sometimes I think Descensus sounds horrendous from a technical stand point, then other times I appreciate what it was trying to do.

Living Together just brings back good memories and happy times, one of my favorite album openers ever. Those opening chords and drums just bring me all the feels. It's such a 'sad' album, but in a good way. I don't know, it makes me happy because I love it, but always a bit melancholy and depressed at the same time.

Still haven't warmed up that much to the Two Dreams album, but the Amulet was a definite banger and as their final 'released as a full length from day 1', it was a great ending LP.

Aight, I had to do it. I don't even know how confident I am in my opinion but I just went with what felt right. D doesn't mean bad, it just means worst of the bunch circa songs I never go back to. C are tracks I rarely go back to, or am tempted to skip and B onwards are all the good shit.

I couldn't bring myself to put anything in the F.

I always find it interesting when someone has Juturna and OLG so apart in their rankings. To me they are very similar records but OLG is a little more refine. They would be my 1a and 1b.

To me, OLG has always had a bit of the sequel syndrome of “here’s everything you liked about the original but a little bit worse.” The highs of OLG (The Difference, Living Together, Your Friends are Gone) are higher but I find Juturna to be a much more consistent album front to back. It’s also very possible my opinion would be different if you flipped the release dates of those two albums.

We reach for the longest shadow

Hot take: I still love OLG and hold it near and dear, but the 3 song run of the title track, Carry Us Away, and Close Your Eyes to See bring that album to a screeching halt to me, and while it does recover for Your Friends are Gone, I'm kind of exhausted and checking to see if I'm almost done with the album at that point.

I guess I didn't know people really don't like "Every Way," but I will say the acoustic version on the deluxe BSN is way better than the Appendage one, in my opinion. I think there's more sincerity to it and it comes off more like an AG solo track. I've always really loved that song though.

Oh man I love those songs. The second half of OLG is why I have that album as my 1A.

I fucking love Everyway, both versions are great

This is your life, are you who you want to be?

I didn't know there was hate for Everyway? I'd say its easily in my top 2 or 3 favorites of theirs. Suchhhhh a jam and musical climax.

This is so crazy to me that Drift is one of your lowest! That’s possibly top 10 for me, and certainly favourite from Two Dreams.

Based on the spotify play counts, I knew my two dreams rankings were going to be off with my opinions against the 'consensus'. It's definitely the work from them that connected the least with me hence 7 of the songs in the C and D tier. What got me into circa was listening to the layered guitars with headphones, and how disparate the guitars seemed to be through each channel but how they made something that worked so well together. There's not too much of that in those EP's. And if there is, the songs take too long to get there. Drift builds up to some good moments, but the whole beginning of the song doesn't do much for me.

Late nap is up there in the S tier as the chorus melody and the subtle layering works really well for me. The opening synth hooked me in, and the chorus is catchy in a subtle way.

    Sith Lord.

While I love Two Dreams vocally for Anthony and think its some of Nicks best bass work.. I feel like I didnt vibe with it as much just because I dont like electronic drums as much as live drums... Two Dreams definitely leans in to the samples and beats and bloops more.

I feel like Two Dreams is them finally going in a lot of different directions that they hinted at on previous releases. Part of me wonders if they knew it would be their last release(s) and just decided to go for broke. It’s a pretty fascinating listen and Our Last Shot, Sleep Well, and Curitiba are some of the best songs they’ve done.

I don’t listen to two dreams nearly enough. I hate how hard it is for me to listen to albums that came out at certain points of my life where I was feeling so bad and low that hardly any music was hitting but usually when I do revisit those kinds of albums I’m glad I did like when I recently revisited dimly lit by from Indian lakes
