Finally! I always love these lists. I usually find at least 3 gems that I missed and end up loving.

Listened to a ton of albums this year, many that I enjoyed but didn't love. A lot that were good, but still disappointments. It was a bit difficult to narrow it down, the top 6 were are definite for me. Here's my top ten and favorite song for each album:

    10. Brain Fallon - Local Honey (Lonely For You Only)
    9. Cassino - Yellowhammer (Tacoma)
    8. the Menzingers - From Exile (Strangers Forever)
    7. Spanish Love Songs - Brave Faces Everyone (Losers)
    6. San Cisco - Between You and Me (Skin)
    5. Phantom Planet - Devastator (Torture Me)
    4. Worst Party Ever - Here, Online (False Teeth)
    3. the Neighbourhood - Chip Chrome and the Mono-Tones (Devil's Advocate)
    2. Mansions - Big Bad (Laser Beams)
    1. the Front Bottoms - In Sickness and in Flames (Camouflage)

Ready to discover some new ones...

Yeah but making the lists early exposes others to albums they may have missed out on. I wish this was an ongoing thread throughout the year.

Even after you have made your list you will see others and think: "that should have made my list" or find new artists long into the new year. No right or wrong answer here.

There’s always the “post every album you listen to” threads for each year and the “recommendations” thread but it would be cool to have a “albums released this year that you think chorus members would enjoy” type thread to not only help people find new releases throughout the year but also bolster discussion for records that don’t get a ton of attention on here but would if people knew about it/listened.

I think that what’s the genre threads are for and it’s up to the individual to keep track of what they do or do not like.

Since not everything fits in the genre threads, I’m gusssibg that’s likely where people miss stuff they find at the end of the year and enjoy.

in 2019, or maybe 2018, I tried making quarterly threads (Q1 2019, Q2 2019) for people to talk about what came out, what they liked, etc. Exactly this, a way to not wait until December to look back at what came out. The threads were mostly a failure though unfortuntely
