    As for mine:

All My Friends- this is the last song on an album that meant soooo much to me in my late teenage years, and has very easily stood the test of time as I listen to it frequently to this day. I went to see them play a reunion show for the 10 year anniversary of the record last month and had a blast, and when I came back home I knew I had to pay tribute by doing a cover for the comp. Inspiration here came primarily from PVRIS's Empty Room Sessions, and a little bit of Daughter.

Meet You There- sounding like a broken record here, but this is also off one of my all time favorite albums, probably actually a top 5 for me. Before I did the MAH cover, my intention was to do a song from this record but I couldn't settle on one so I almost trashed it altogether. Decided to have a second go and busted this out in a total of a couple hours -- been jamming the new Slaughter Beach, Dog record quite a bit and the inspiration here mostly came from that. Also from the first couple The Go Find records. Just wanted to do something fun and lighthearted. My girlfriend was hesitant to do harmonies because she doesn't sing at all but I think she crushed it! Music is mostly my thing so it was fun for me to get her involved with one of these covers for once. Having something together like this is special for me/us.

Get ready to hear something toooooooootallly different, yet amazing. So check her out!

Also thanks for the kind words on the falsetto. For the longest time I complained about my voice and lack of falsetto until I watched my friend, who is an excellent singer, use his head voice. THen I just kept trying and it turns out it ain't half bad!

    @trevorshmevor

Thanks man, I was listening to a live and a demo version of that song and i kinda wanted to rawdog the sound.

I ran my mic through one amplifier and angled it next to my guitar amp, then I put a sound block in front of both of them and put the condenser mic in the middle of the triangle.

Had no idea how it would sound but I did 3 takes, wasnt happy, left for my sisters to watch TWD and shameless and then came home and had 2 beers and recorded that one in one take, and was a little more comfortable with it.

That chorus/reverb is brought to you by my Polara reverb pedal, and a Starcaster chorus. My guitar is a Fender Stacaster so i already get a really pure clean sound.

  5. Dude, ain't that the truth. I still don't love my falsetto or voice in general but man if you just really go for it and own it and keep trying, it's not ever really gonna sound as bad as you think it's going to. Glad to validate your confidence!

@Wall Of Arms @thesoftskeleton Wow. This is just amazing. I think both of your voices fit perfectly and complement each other so well. Utterly beautiful.

I have been meaning to check out Phoebe Bridgers but never gotten to it until now and that is all thanks to your cover.

    I'm tired.

So in this comp I took it a bit literally.

Thanks man! Dallas is probably my favorite musician and this song, no matter how many times I've heard it, just hits me hard every time. Not to get too personal, but I always tend to focus on my flaws and self doubt and to me this song is all about accepting your flaws but also recognizing your good qualities and how we always underrate them when thinking about ourselves.

You're correct, those are keys at the end. I had to get a little creative with them, because I couldn't quite find the sound I wanted for them. I initially recorded them on garageband, then recorded the sound of them playing over my speakers to get a more distant sound and then overlaid it with a delay effect.

I just want to address something, not that its been said, but my cover of Crazy was recorded about a year ago and it was done using a studio quality mic in my friends makeshift studio at his house. Whereas my other two covers were recorded using a USB mic plugged into my computer. For some reason too, my vocals in Sidewalks sound muffled, I tried to re-record but i couldn't get a take better than the one I ended up uploading.

So yeah, that's why I sound different on my cover of Crazy, and more alike on my other two covers.

  12. Oh shit, this is awesome! I love hearing about neat recording tricks like this. Sometimes just lowering the volume and drenching it in reverb just doesn't do the trick, so this is a cool idea.

  13. Thank you! It's an old Fender Rhodes - easily the coolest instrument I own. The guitar part was a last-minute addition because I thought that ending needed something else to separate it from the rest of the song.

This was such a cool comp to listen to. Lots of really interesting song choices and great renditions all around.

Just want to thank everyone for making it so easy for me to curate this compilation! Everyone was a charmer!

Also, I'm tagging people in track list order.

@JakeRabin - I loved your take on F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. which I will now to reveal people was your secret song. It seemed like a real fun thing to record just by how well you were able to replicate not only the beginning but also quite easily matching Thomas Erak's vocal intricacies.

@elemenohpe - I absolutely loved this, as you said in your email, I can tell you spent a lot of time, and put a lot of thought into it. It was a really enjoyable listen. I loved the way you arranged it, I loved the everything.

@Wall Of Arms @thesoftskeleton - Kyle, no idea what you were going on about. Your vocals sound fantastic and compliment softskeleton's like a treat. The haunting nature of your song is something cannot be ignored either. Well done to both of you.

@St. Nate - I would happily pay you to sing at me, if I could afford it.

@aoftbsten - Haunting, absolutely hauntingly beautiful. Your inner Dallas really comes out in this one. I almost, almost! made you the opener. "I get so distra--cted" really caught me by surprise. Great cover.

@JakeRabin - I haven't heard the original, but I didn't realise how placing you where I did really changed the dynamic of where the track list was going. Sounds like a real fun song. Great job. Loved the guitar work.

@Jdaniels - Your vocals give me a Chuck Ragan feel, and I love Chuck Ragan, so great job here. You really made me interested in this after you told me that Old 97's was your any time band.

@Pseudo! - If Copeland wrote this song, this is what it would sound like. Fucking fantastic work here.

@troyplaysbass - A cover without a guitar, what a delightful change! I haven't heard the original (to my recollection) but this cover made for a great change of pace in the compilation.

@xkhiemster - A really bedroom-y sound here, which adds a great layer to this song's lyrical content. Great job here.

@Bloodsucker II - I would also happily pay you to sing at me, if I could afford it. I loved the minimalistic approach you took to it, along with the layering of your vocals, and the piano.

@trevorshmevor - I could only sort of make out your girlfriends voice, but she has a voice as beautiful as yours.

@therookielot - Loved your take on this. I love way the beginning builds with that thunder rolling sound (whether intentional or not). Your vocals really settle in to the arrangement as the song goes on too.

@trevorshmevor - I loved, loved LOVED this cover. The way it builds up is just perfect.

@Jdaniels - I loved this. I'm not a Taylor Swift fan so I haven't heard the original, but I really liked this.

@ricklightning - Are you Pianos Become the Teeth? Maybe they need to hire you to do shows they can't. Amazing.

@xkhiemster - If I'm honest, my least favourite out of the three you submitted, but still a great cover. I love the arrangement of just you with the guitar.

@JakeRabin - Take this however you want, I could see this as the opening credits to a comedy movie. Camera pans up over the city, and then follows a car along a highway and then he get stuck in traffic, this is then actually playing on the radio, and he turns the song off (conveniently when it's about to finish) and then yells at the car in front of him. "It's green, dickhead!"

@xkhiemster - Like I said, I made the closer a cover I thought was interesting and different to what usually closes the compilations out. I felt like because Coheed doesn't scream "fall band" and the mountain of a song you chose, people would want to hear what you came up with, and I was not disappointed at all. Great job.

Thanks! I really appreciate that. You did a great job putting this together. Also, I think you made the right call putting F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X as the opener .

Here's quite a few tracks on here I've never heard before and now I'm rally excited to check out the artists thanks to these awesome covers!

F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X - @JakeRabin - Man, I have not listened to Fall of Troy in ages. This cover is freaking awesome, you can really shred. I'm going to have to go back and revisit to Fall of Troy now because your cover reminds me of how much I enjoy these guys.

Round Here - @elemenohpe I'm not very well versed in Counting Crows discography, but if it's all in this vein, then I've to check them out further. As others have said, it's clear there was a lot of work and thought put into this cover. The guitar work is excellent along with your production value. I love near the end where it slows down and there's a bit of echo effect on your vocals and then that very subtle piano in the background at the end of the song. Excellent stuff.

Smoke Signals - @Wall Of Arms & @thesoftskeleton - I've been told a few times to check out Phoebe Bridgers, so this was a great introduction. The vocals (both of you!) on this are absolutely beautiful. Very delicate but filled with emotion. Great cover.

New York - @St. Nate - I love your take on this song. It's got a very blue collar quality to it that I honestly wasn't expecting, but it really works perfectly.

Run - @Damien Davies - Snow Patrol is underrated in my opinion. I think the first time I heard this song was during fall, so this was a great choice. Listening to your cover, I can picture myself walking in a park surrounded by falling leaves. I love the energy of the original, but I think I love that you kept it soft the whole way through. Great job.

Falling For You - @JakeRabin - Holy shit! I totally forgot about this song. Haha, thanks for this blast from the past. Your cover is true to the original, keeping that awesome and fun energy. The guitars, your vocals, everything is just spot on.

Won't Be Home - @Jdaniels I'm a real big fan of your vocals man. Very reminiscent of Brian Fallon, but with a little more grit to it. I've never heard the original, but this definitely gives me some Gaslight Anthem vibes. I'll check out the original, but this on it's own is great.

Sprained Ankle - @Pseudo! - Julien Baker is so good and very tough to cover (I tried once, could not get it to work), but you definitely do her justice here while also making it your own. The layered vocals, that ambient reserve guitar effect (I think?), the subtle little background vocals all work together very well. Again, it's tough to pull off a good Julien cover but I think you nailed it.

Autumn In New London - @troyplaysbass - Keys are always a win. I've never heard the song before, but this is beautifully arranged cover that definitely gives me the fall feels. And I love the introduction of the soft guitar at the end.

The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most - @xkhiemster - Is there a better fall band than Dashboard? This song has always had a haunting loneliness to it and you capture that perfectly. I love the sounds of the outside environment that sneak in (recorded outside?). I'm a fan of getting outside of a traditional recording spaces, so including that in was an awesome decision in my book.

True Love Will Find You In The End - @Bloodsucker II - Once again, a song I've never heard, but now I need too. This cover is beautiful. I honestly can't say much outside of that. Wonderful vocals. Superb job.

Sidewalks - @Damien Davies - I haven't listened to Story of the Year in so song, this was a great way to get reacquainted. Honestly, I think it works better as a very stripped down acoustic song, so I'm glad you kept it simple. Side note: Have you ever seen them live? One of the craziest stage presences I think I've witnessed. So good.

Meet You There - @trevorshmevor - Killed it. It's got a much more indie feel than the original that really works. You're a great vocalist (the falsetto at the end was a nice touch)

Joy - @therookielot - The production on this is just awesome. It's got that old, worn out punk sound to it (I swear that's meant in a good way).

All My Friends - @trevorshmevor - Really, really great addition to this comp. The changes you made to the arrangement are great, slowing it down and using that warm guitar tone to open and then coming with the more distorted stuff. I was hooked the moment that lead guitar riff came in. You really changed this one up and I love it.

All To Well - @Jdaniels - I'm a T-Swift fan (though I haven't checked out the new album), but can we get more Taylor Swift songs in this style? This more folk style works better for this song in my opinion.

Say Nothing - @ricklightning - Damn, if I had stumbled upon this with no context I could be easily convinced it was a demo for the actual song! Your voice, the guitar tones, everything is just spot on. Nicely done.

All That's Left - @xkhiemster - Further proof that Thrice can shred on acoustic. Not easy to pull off this type of song acoustically, but I think you did it.

Monkey Wrench - @JakeRabin - I'm a big Foo Fighters fan. Dave would be proud of this one. Stayed true to the song and kept the same frantic feel. In particular, you freaking nailed the bridge. Those screams man!

Crazy - @Damien Davies - I really love the original. This cover kind of sounds like if John Nolan had helped write and perform it. Very good stuff.

In Keeping Secrets Of Slient Earth 3 - @xkhiemster - As someone who has tried to learn a fair share of Coheed songs on guitar, I commend you for this cover. I'm curious, did you record vocals and guitar at the same time. There's no way I would be able to coordinate myself trying to do both. High degree of difficulty song, but I'm glad you did it.

  17. @Damien Davies and @aoftbsten thank you both very much for the feedback!
