I'm still staring down the sun Prestigious

I'd prolly just need the first one then. Just programming drums. Sweet.

  2. @trevorshmevor

Thank you so much for all of the compliments! The comparison to TEN made me smile cuz I love them.

I'll try to figure out a way for me to do a "making of" video sometime. That could be fun!

  3. You should hear MY brother. He puts me to SHAME. Far better singer, freaking incredible at harmonies, also a better guitarist, drummer, and synth player. And ironically enough, our mom has no musical ability whatsoever. She's great at remembering the dates of when songs she loved were released, but she can't clap along to songs or maintain a melody whatsoever. It's wonderful.

@elemenohpe thanks so much, I really appreciate it. I can't even fathom the song you did; not only is it long, but you shredded those leads. I'm not that kind of player at all, so I really respect those skills!

@bradsonemanband thank you very much, dude. This song is one of the two (or so) gems, in my opinion, on Raditude. The other of which is Put Me Back Together. I'm psyched you did that song, dude, 'cause that was the other one I was torn between doing, but you killed it.

@trevorshmevor thanks a lot, Trevor! I think the '50s feel that the song has is mostly a result of the bass line I put in it. The original is great, too, but doesn't have that same groove to it. As for the family comment, that's too funny. Although you picture some sort of Partridge Family situation going on, Things So Impossible and I are ironically the only two who play music (to my knowledge) in our whole family. No one's getting 50 lashes for not practicing their scales, haha, just a lot of encouragement growing up. I will be sure to pass the message on to my mother, she'll get a kick out of it.

  5. @DashboardProfessional thanks man! I'm glad you dig it. And I'm glad you didn't take it! :-) PS: I am currently drunk. But that's fine.

@snaps - I love every decision that you guys made here. The off-kilter guitar work, the drums in the third verse and bridge, the slightly modified intro are all so good. Vocals were great too, totally held up to what was going on instrumentally. It's exciting to hear such a fresh take on the song.

@Chase Tremaine - Smiled the whole way through this one. Hoping to see someone cover your song "Summer Elaine and Uptown Billy" on the summer comp, haha. Your guitar playing was spot on. I checked out your website too - you are full of neat ideas, my man.

@bobsheiskawy - Really accurate cover. The keyboard sounds great and everything is mixed really well. The overdubs on the vocals are a sweet touch.

@bradsonemanband - I'm starting every Weezer cover I ever do with "1-2, Weezer" from now on. Your harmonies always sound great. The lead guitar on the chorus is sort of reminiscent of the lead you did on your "Mixtape" cover. I loved that lead a year ago and I love it now.

@harveyn590 - So good. The original has a lot of energy, and you being able to retain that energy with just your voice and a single acoustic guitar is super impressive.

@phillyfradet - Hell yeah. In terms of track sequencing, this was a great place to put this song. The fuzzy guitar sounds awesome, and the second vocal parts were really tastefully done. I really like that final "things will never be the same."

@DashboardProfessional - It's funny that someone mentioned the 50s vibe - I was thinking that this song wouldn't sound out of place playing from a radio in the movie Stand By Me or something. That nostalgic vibe is still there in the original song, but I think the acoustic guitar, subtle bass, and the way you hold some of your notes accentuates it, particularly in the bridge. I love it. Nothing sounds out of place here.

@Things So Impossible - You made this sound so genuine, man. You and DashboardProfessional are brothers? Wow. You both took songs I wasn't too familiar with and did them so well that I feel like I don't even need the originals, as ignorant as that might sound. And those cricket noises - so good.

@Patterns in Traffic - The production on this is great, dude. Lots of depth. I like that, like @Chase Tremaine, you threw some spice in there with that Europe lick. You've got a great voice and the whole thing was super fun.

@elemenohpe - I love the original Futurescope Trilogy, but I would have absolutely no problem listening to your version instead for, like, the rest of my life. You mentioned you wouldn't consider yourself a drummer, but I wouldn't be able to tell at all. Everything on this track sounded more than competent. The seven minute powerbomb - you pulled it off, man.

Great job everybody. I wouldn't mind listening to your versions any day of the week.

  7. Thanks so much!!!! That really means a lot! A lot lot lot lot

    Shut the FFFFFFRESHFISH UP

@elemenohpe, @bradsonemanband, @trevorshmevor, & @TedSchmosby, thank you all so much for the feedback! I'm super happy about how my cover turned out and glad it fits so well with the other covers.

As for the summer songs, I've already tracked drums and bass and preliminary rhythm and lead guitars for one cover, so I might as well call it now that I'm doing "Under the Boardwalk" by the Drifters.

Everyones cover is so great. Everyone did such a great job.

  10. So far, the Weezer compilation has had 752 individual song plays and 13 full album downloads.

  11. Thanks man! It's cool that you noticed the difference in my voice between this song and my original track. I have a pretty deep speaking voice, but when I recorded that original song a few years ago I was singing with a more nasally tone. I think I was unintentionally trying to emulate the singers that influenced me when I was younger. In the past few years, I've come around to embracing my natural voice and I've learned to sing and project better with that tone. I think (or at least I hope) it sounds a bit more powerful that way. Thanks for noticing!

  12. Thank you! I was starting to think that the Europe part blended in so well that people wouldn't notice it haha.

I love how your track starts out quiet and somber and gradually builds. The changes in the instrumentation and even the style of your vocals from the beginning to the end make it a really interesting listen all the way through. Really dynamic performance!

Good pick! Excited to hear it with your vocal style.

Since you're throwing our choices already I'll just say that I'm doing Stay Out by Hit The Lights (already finished initial tracking!) and It's Been A Summer by New Found Glory. Probably going to start tracking that next Monday.

I see that people are starting to get excited about the next compilation so I'll "officially" announce it so people can start working on it.

Don't assume that we're done talking about the Weezer compilation though! Please keep reviewing peoples songs. We're not moving on yet!

    So without further ado...

Thanks! I am planning on doing an 8-string deathcore rendition but if that doesn't pan out I'll just bang out a quick straightforward cover... or I'll pass it on to you. I'm sure you'd slay it!

I can't make a promise I can do it in 20 days, but I'm gonna try my best on Summertime Sadness by Lana Del Rey (because everyone wants to hear my shit voice sing her flawless voice) haha

I was looking at all her songs, was considering Off to the Races, Video Games, Radio and Shades of Cool. haha I went with this just because it seems to be the easiest to work with, and I already won't have too much time I don't think. That would be a good one too though.

Speaking of Green Day, I'd like to do "Waiting" as my summer song.
