I guess I should listen to some Alk3... never was much of a fan when I was younger. Listened to Goddamnit last night... any particular album I should check out next?

I was in the group that voted for Alkaline Trio. I've heard a lot of covers for the Beatles and I'm not sure how interesting NFG would be, as much I enjoy that band. The Chris Cornell one wouldn't be bad, I suppose. I just think there is a good amount of Alkaline Trio fans here that could do some cool things with those songs. They are pretty simple songs at their core, but I think the imagery and aesthetic lends to some potentially interesting covers. There's a lot of ways to go with their songs imo.

Haha thanks man! I think I've only posted in this thread a few times. Someone did a really good 1975 cover that sounded very well done. Kind of like on the No Boys collection where it just sort of sticks out because you guys are on a time crunch. I generally don't try to throw out ideas since I'm not covering songs. I like seeing what people can do in relatively tight timelines.

With Trio, I could see thesoftskeleton (I think that's her) doing Mercy Me on piano slow and kind of like a ballad and it totally crushing. I'm sure there are plenty more that I think people could have some fun with.

 

any Alkaline Trio song would be awesome as a haunting ballad.

Before it gets swept away by the Alkaline Trio hype, I want to give my thoughts on our Green Day comp!

@elemenohpe - Your voice fits this PERFECTLY. This is such a good opener and you killed it.
@JakeRabin and @bradsonemanband - I love the collaboration; I really like what having two voices adds to this song. This is a super fun cover and the drums sound especially great.
@clockwise - I'm glad someone represented Nimrod! I like your guitar tone; it gives it a surf rock vibe that's really enjoyable.
@therookielot - The lo-fi sound really works for this. Your cover has a very old-school charm to it. Love the passion.
@JakeRabin - Props for choosing this song! I love your instrumentation choices. This is great.
@bradsonemanband - Dude, I really like your vocals on this! Could be my favorite of yours vocally of all the ones I've participated on. It's cool to hear that you can do more unique covers and also straight ones. Also your bass tone in the bridge is dope!
@elemenohpe - Killer instrumentation on this one. It's really cool how you always do such varying styles with your songs. Your talent and creativity really shows!
@Jdaniels - This is probably my favorite Green Day song. Glad you took on a classic! It's nice to hear it stripped down, and I really, really like the intro you did! It's so pretty.
@xkhiemster - I'm really glad you represented American Idiot. You always kill it with the instrumentation, but I also really like your vocals on this one. They fit this song well, especially the low parts in the first half of the song. I just wish they were louder!
@elemenohpe - This is my favorite of yours on this comp. Such a beautiful take on it. I'll be listening to this one for a while.
@JakeRabin @DashboardProfessional - Thanks for putting this together dude! This was a lot of fun to participate in. I like how you chose to allocate the vocals, especially since it turned into only my brother and I singing. I can't emphasize enough how much I love the guitar tone you went with. What effects are on it? It really reminds me of the tone of Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want by The Smiths. This is one of my favorite covers I've participated on, so thank you again!

Man, you guys really crank these comps out. For now I'd like to put my name down for Warbrain.

 

Cycles are usually just over three weeks. This one is like 17 days... should be fun though, their songs seem pretty simple as far as chord progressions go.

If it gets to a day or two before songs are due and a lot of people think they won't finish, the deadline can always be changed. It's been pushed back before.

 

Yeeeeah, I'd make it a week later than that, but I'm going to be out of the country for a couple weeks starting the 15th of June. So I wanted to make sure it'd be all done before I take off.

 

Radio is my pick haha..was gonna say FBT but I'm torn lol so I pick radio.

 

Going to be out of town until June 10th so I'll need to pass on this one
