I've used reaper for years now. I've tried every other audio engineering program out there for Windows basically, and it's still my favorite. Haha

Whew! Me too! I was thinking that in the next 11 days I only have 2 off. I'm off 4 of those extra 7 days Brad forgot. That makes this project much more feasible.

If only I could figure out this damn bass line!

Do you have any tips that helped your recordings? I'm about ready to purchase a full license because I've loved it so far but there's a few things I've been wondering how to do.

I recently discovered the whole thing with multiple-takes per track and you can pick the one that's best. Also the folder system makes layering tracks a lot easier to manage on a small screen. I've mostly been curious about being able to mix a wav file (put points in where I can adjust volume mostly so cuts aren't as abrasive).

Currently, for my 7+ minute epic I've got all the bass recorded, 2/3 of the rhythm guitar, 1/2 of the (3) lead guitars and 1/2 of the piano tracked. Still need to finish those fractions plus do all the vocals, and if my e-kit arrives in enough time, drums!! Sweetwater should not have approved me for so much credit!

Really, I'm not a master with it. The biggest tips I have is to just find some good VST plug-ins and learn them if you haven't already. And to also make sure the mix is quiet, so you can get a good master. But you might already know that stuff. Using the ASIO driver makes things run a bit cleaner, and if you run large virtual instruments, right clicking it and setting to "run as a dedicated process" can save you from a lot of headaches. I mix WAV files a lot, so I don't quite know what you're talking about there, but if you just hit "v" with a track selected you can create volume editing points (if that's what you're looking for).

  11. 10 MORE DAYS, GUYS!!!!!!! (i actually did the math this time)

Just wanted to remind everyone that there's only a little over a week left to get your songs turned in. Start ASAP so you don't have to rush and/or bail.

    Stoked to hear everyone's tracks!

All guitars and bass are done. Electronic drums and midi keyboard are arriving Monday so I hope to finish all my tracking (drums, keys, vocals) on Tueaday. Mixing throughout the week. My song is 7 and a half minutes!

I was working on one version of my cover but didn't really like it so I'm starting from scratch. It'll be ready for the due date though!

Any chance I could change my song to Jacked Up? I'm just feeling like there's too much Pinkerton being represented :eh:

I haven't liked any of my vocal takes I've done. Who knew Perfect Situation was such a hard song to sing. Gonna try again on Monday.

  18. One week until the Weezer covers are due!

Any idea on what we're doing for May? With Weezer wrapping up I'd like to start thinking ahead for the next one. I remember some good suggestions like a Drive-Thru comp, Bright Eyes (although a Conor Oberst one would be appropriate too and cover his side projects outside of BE), blink-182 Vol. 3 (or maybe wait for California to drop).

  20. I'm not sure what the next one is gonna be yet...

    Let's all start suggesting!

  21. I think Blink would be more appropriate after California releases.

Also, I don't totally remember what the general consensus was in the old AP thread about the future schedule of these things... so I could be totally wrong here. But weren't we gonna shoot for a pattern of two tributes and then a mixtape?

Here's a few short lists for me.

    lndividual artists:

blink-182 Vol. 3 (to celebrate California)
Brand New Vol. 2 (because AP had one and chorus.fm hasn't!)
Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes, Desaparecidos, CO&The Mystic Valley Band, Monsters of Folk, etc)
    Radiohead
Taking Back Sunday (just because it hasn't been done yet)
underOATH (to celebrate the Rebirth tour)

    Label compilations:
    Drive-Thru
    Epitaph
    I Surrender
    Hopeless
    Rise
    Tooth & Nail
    Victory

    Theme compilations:
    90's Hits Vol. 2
    Feel Good Summer Jams
    80's Hits
    Unplugged / Stripped Down Arrangements

  23. You are correct. I think that would be a good rotation. 2 specific bands and then 1 mixtape.

Oooooh I really like this idea

  24. Unplugged is a cool idea.

What about like... boy bands/girl groups? Backstreet, N*Sync, LFO, Spice Girls, TLC, 98 Degrees, Destiny's Child, etc.
