I really really really think Lorde will take AOTY. That album is/was massive.

 

Album, no. But I could see/hope Redbone taking it.

 

I adore that album so much, probably my #2 on my own AOTY list, but I don't see it winning. The fact that it hasn't been nominated in any other category doesn't seem to help.

He's definitely gonna win at least one of the song ones and maaaybe urban contemporary but yeah no chance he wins AOTY. I didn't see him getting nominated for that in a million years though, so fucking happy for him

Hey I was definitely defending it by your side man! Loved it since day one.

This also almost guarantees we'll get an epic performance from him at the Grammys. I'm gonna put all my marbles on him doing a quick minute of either Baby Boy or Stand Tall and then launch into Redbone.

 

The quiet beginning of Stand Tall into Redbone would be amazing

 

I really love this album. I hope he somehow manages a Coachella performance next year

 

Maybe I'm just cynical and jaded about the whole thing, but the noms so far feel like the Grammys over-compensating for their history. Years and years of being out of touch, WAY too white, biased towards anything but hip hop, rewarding white rappers over rappers of color.... these noms are GREAT and I love to see it happen, but I can't help but to think it's a way to sort of respond to that criticism. There is not a single white male nominated for album of the year. I really think, to cap it all off, that picking such a powerful hip-hop album like DAMN, which really talks about all the things that has essentially been the downfall of the Grammys over the last few years, could be their way of like... proving themselves.

I like the album, and I hope Redbone wins the awards its up for, but it's nowhere near an AOTY for me. Hoping Melodrama or Damn takes it

 

Lol the album is grower for sure but there are DEFINITELY still some questionable creative choices, especially regarding the vocals, that I don't feel bad for "shitting on"

 

I still don't really like the majority of this album

 

Got this on vinyl as an xmas gift. I still get little chills on Baby Boy.

Curious to see where he goes after Awaken

 

Also curious to see if this will be his last album. I really doubt it. A one-album contract seems incredibly strange, but who knows.

 

I think he meant one last album as Gambino, will probably release albums under Donald Glover

 

Yeah I'd say this seems like it will mean more than one album but who the hell knows with him

I'm just super happy we're getting a new album this year, I didn't expect one. Reeallly hope there's a tour

 

He played a new song tonight in NY and mentioned something about a tour next summer

Hopefully that means this coming summer
