On first listen I was left slightly underwhelmed and confused, but almost immediately after it ended I wanted to listen to it again. Have now heard it three times and it's gotten better every single time. I love Me and Your Mama, Boogieman, Zombies, Redbone, Terrified, and Stand Tall (his vocals are fantastic on this song), and the rest is steadily growing on me too. I actually really like California, it's a super fun song and I don't mind the vocals at all anymore. It's also the closest he comes to rapping on the album, which is ironic since it's the song most people are hating on the most

I don't see myself ever liking this more than Because the Internet but I'm definitely happy with this. I hope he finds the time next year to go on tour, especially if he manages to take Pharos on the road somehow. Would love to see him again, the Deep Web Tour was phenomenal

Yeah I've probably given this 4 full listens so far, really enjoy it a lot. Me and Your Mama, Redbone, Terrified, Baby Boy and Stand Tall are all amazing (especially Stand Tall), and Boogieman and Zombies are really fun.

 

I've come around a bit more each time I've lisfened. Still don't really like Zombies or Boogieman. But I think I'm getting the appeal of this more even if some of the vocal inflections are obnoxious

I like every track on this. It's a fun album. I don't get the California hate, such a feel good vibe. Makes me excited for what he does next.

 

The next album better not be a bad "Rock" album

Exactly, which is why I am scared, I don't want Childish Gambino's version Rebirth

 

I mean, this is way better than anything Kid Cudi released under WRZD or beyond

 

Without a doubt. Saw some people saying this is Gambino's Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven and I think that comparison is WAY off base.

 

There is some sort of levity to the fact the Questlove repped this.

Also, the VR performance of Me and Your Mama on the Pharos app is pretty cool, can't wait to watch the whole show.

 

Tempted to pre order the virtual reality vinyl, really curious as to what its gonna be.

 

You know what the weirdest thing is? Aside from the singles, California is the most played song from this album on Spotify.

 

As much as people hate the song, The general vibe of the song's gonna make it a favorite, especially if he starts performing it live. A lot of people said it was their favorite song at Pharos

 

It'll sound great live if he doesn't go with that awful vocal effect. Its a groovy song and really the only time on the album where he raps.

 

It's probably the highest because people are checking to see if it's as bad as everyone says it is (and it is).

 

Redbone and Me and Your Mama are amazing. Need more time to digest the rest.

Relistening to California while p drunk to see if a new mindset would make it tolerable, but all I can think of is how fucking weird it must have been to watch/listen to Donald record this song
