I never really liked Camp but I do like most of BTI and Kauai

I don't think I've liked an entire album from him, but each has songs I REALLY love (other than Camp, I haven't revisited any songs from that in years).

I like the two songs I've heard from this, hopefully I'll like the rest

Hmm. Three listens in and this is not for me so far.

Back half is better for sure.

Only five tracks in so far, but I'm liking this much more than I thought based on the initial reaction in here. Some of the vocal stuff is a bit jarring (the group vocals on Have Some Love sound kind of off), but the music alone is fantastic. This would make for one hell of an instrumental album. I'm just glad he's moved away from the cheesy one liners, ha.

Is this going to be streaming anywhere today?

I'm honestly a little shocked by how aggressive negative the reaction has been. It's not a good album but I also don't understand the vitriol being tossed at it. Maybe if he had a more transitional album instead of diving head first into this sound it would be different?

This is coming from someone who hasn't fucked with him at all since Camp (but I have listened to each project) and also thinks that album is a heap of trash now.

Not huge into this at all. Really, really disappointed that he's going in a different direction but 100% respect him for experimenting, trying something different, and pursuing his own personal vision regardless of what anyone else thinks. Takes a lot of integrity and strength for an established artist to do something like that. Still love the hell out of Donald himself and literally everything else he does (Atlanta, Community, his comedy, his being in Star Wars, etc.) but if this is the direction his music will be going in I'll just happily enjoy his older stuff going forward.

Magic Mike XXL is the best artistic endeavor he's been a part of. I love Community and like what I've seen of Atlanta, need to catch up, but his music doesn't do much for me and this album continues that.

For those who have heard it and don't like it, did you not like Redbone when it first came out? Cuz I am obsessed with that song, I'm hoping the rest of the album is similar.

Atlanta is such a bold, brilliant series. Really, really, really glad it's finally out there in the wild after gestating for so long.

  11. Idk what the hell is going on with that "California" track, but other than that I thought this album was cool. Not the type of music I'm really into, so I probably won't go back to it much, but I like seeing artists experiment. Huge Donald Glover fan. Nice to see him having a big year.

It seems kind of weird that there wasn't a premiere stream anywhere today? I'm so used to an album being premiered (on a site/spotify/apple music/etc).

Redbone is much better in context, maybe because the past two songs have been pretty bad. I'm only half hearing the lyrics but they seem pretty horrible

Alright holy shit to the guy who posted Ice JJ Fish.....I'm fuckin dyyyyyyyin, California is totally Ice JJ Fish

Other than California I'm actually totally down for this album. Like it's a bit of a mess and he needs more finesse and tweaking, and it's a bit basic in terms of what others with similar sounds are doing but I'm super alright with this new direction if he keeps it interesting.
