Mayor Lori Lightfoot says she’ll allow Chicago restaurants to serve more people starting Thursday

Can't get the teachers vaccinated before forcing them back into schools with more virulent COVID strains, but definitely has room for encouraging super-spreading in restaurants.

I'd like to think the terrible weather is keeping people from doing super spreading activities but that's probably wishful thinking.

 

My upstairs neighbors threw a party last night. Wishful thinking, indeed.

 

Two of my old friends from Ohio are moving up here and they’d been banking on tomorrow, and I’m feverishly trying to tell them to fuckin wait lol

 

Reminds me a lot of February 2015. Winter started out mild and then just took a dump right around the Super Bowl with the blizzard.

 

That super bowl blizzard sucked so much.

 

I almost got snowed into the garden apartment that i was living in at the time. Drifts had piled up outside the door so had to throw the shovel out and shimmy my way between the door and wall to dig out lol.

 

I lived across the street from a bar in that blizzard and it ruled.

 

We had just bought our house then and thankfully weren't living their yet. We were still living in a condo that had a service for snow removal.

Spent an hour outside this morning shoveling and another hour in the alley a block over helping a friend/neighbor who got stuck when they were on their way out to pick up their paczki from Bridgeport Bakery.

 

Terrible fucking people

 

Personally, I would be honored to not make rent if it means a cop gets a new bulletproof vest to wear while they’re out body slamming 13 year olds.

We don't live in Chicago but we recently booked a long weekend up there for March. Knowing full well we aren't going to do anything but hang out in the hotel room and door dash some good food.

ETA: I've been vaccinated fully and feel comfortable traveling 90 miles away from home. My husband has not yet, but his biggest concern has been making sure I was before we ventured out. We've stayed home all year. Also, will take any and all good delivery options for dinner!

CWB leans a little too right for me at times, but they're on top of things for the most part. This all sounds really odd and yet totally believable.

I'll follow up to say that I'm willing to believe this was some random fuckery. I've lived in River North for about a year now and it's gotten sketchy since the pandemic started. Or maybe I'm paying more attention now.

But also, the Jussie story has my antenna up for bullshit too, so I don't know.

 

Be careful walking around outside. My walk to the Western brownline was mostly black ice this morning.
