Mine was requested August 4, and I received it September 20.

Where do you all go to see what the status of your requested ballot is?

You can check the status of your application here, and the Chicago Board of Elections will email you a link to track your ballot once it's mailed.

Ah I’m actually still registered in the suburbs (still Cook), but I imagine there is one for them too?

It looks like it—here! According to this page, though, you should've gotten your ballot already, so perhaps you'll need to email or phone the Cook County Clerk.

So got a letter yesterday from Secretary of State's office saying that they sent me a vote-by-mail application, but that they haven't received my application...so yeah probably just gonna vote early in person then.

Yeah...that's on her. Letting bars (and some restaurants) open back up did NOT help. She is a big blame in all of this.

Also, semi-related, but while I think indoor businesses that are not essential should still be closed, it's annoying that bars were able to reopen but music venues were not (they could have potentially done socially distant shows and handled things better than bars are, IMHO). Just kinda sucks that music venues have gotten the short end of the stick.

The arc of my mail-in ballot saga has ended (for now). A timeline:

Mid-September: Send in application for my mail in-ballot.

Mid-October: Family members get their ballots, somehow i do not.

Saturday: Secretary of State sends me a letter saying that while they mailed me an application, there is no record of me having sent it back in through early October.

Also Saturday: Check Cook County Clerk's office for my status, they have no record of me requesting one.

Today: Go to vote on the first-day of in-person in the suburbs. Multiple people in my polling station are taking off their mask to vote, walking around with the mask around their neck/worn incorrectly. MAGA-hat wearing fuck refuses to take off his hat or wear a mask.

Just now: Mail-in ballot comes in the mail.

Fuck this entire process and all of the pieces of shit out there can't exercise a basic gesture of good will to wear a mask. With positivity rates being what they are there was a decent chance someone voting today had COVID and now idk how i'll be able to shake this anxiety and dread for the next two weeks.

The don’t-blame-bars-and-restaurants angle is such horseshit and I’m still kinda floored she dismissed them being open for service as a non-issue.

Same. Honestly, bars and restaurants being open is more of a COVID risk than me inviting my friends over to my home occasionally (which is what the top doctor said not to do).

I mean I have friends that have gotten COVID by inviting pre-symptomatic people over to their apartments, so I back that, but also agree that the bars/restaurants defense is absolutely caving to those lobbies.

I should clarify that I am not saying there's no risk to inviting friends over, but I think there is a much higher risk to having bars/restaurants open and to focus on inviting folks to your home instead of bars/restaurants being open is annoying.

    Hey. Supporter

Well my online tracking says it’s still in transit but it was delivered to me, so that’s interesting. Anyways, voted and dropped off.

I dropped mine off at the early voting super site in the loop yesterday. Easy as could be.

I voted in person last week and felt safe doing so, glad to do it and just get it out of the way.

I envy all of your experiences.

Also DuPage/Kane/Will/Kankakee Counties look likely to get indoor bar/dining eliminated today.

Supporters crowd New Lenox restaurant in defiance of governor’s COVID-19 restrictions

Hospitals have seen admissions related to COVID-19 triple in the past two weeks, Baldermann wrote. Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox was placed on bypass for a time in the past week because emergency operations reached capacity, he wrote.

“Make no mistake, I am not a COVID denier,” Baldermann wrote. “Since this is a governor’s mandate, whether constitutional or not, it isn’t a law and we don’t have the authority to enforce it. I would be surprised if the state police enforces it, but I can’t guarantee that.”

    Cool shit dude
