If you haven’t you should totally listen to the latest Gleemer record. That’s the exact sound you’re looking for.

I really like Useful Machine. It might be my favorite. It’s so groovy and the melody is so unexpected in parts

strange interactions in the night is every bit as impactful as colorgut. plenty of other stuff here hits that emotional catharsis as well honestly. this criticism I’m seeing of the album being too slow reminds me so much of when moving mountains self titled dropped because I similarly was able to get a whole bunch of cathartic, emotional moments out of that one too but the it’s too slow and quiet narrative was quite prevalent. maybe I’m confused about what is being considered slow.

just had a second go. this is so fucking special. it makes me feel like im 18-19 again and just about to burst at the seams with all the emotion i carry and cant contain anymore. reminds me of a lot of my favorite bands that never got enough credit. the aforementioned moving mountains is a given but also from indian lakes.

It is slower* than the singles and that is not a bad thing. I said this earlier but I get a lot of goodness vibes from this. After 5 listens the word that comes to mind is “measured”

I think it was definitely a singles issue. Each of the singles had a vibe that no other songs have and that's totally fine. The album has grown a ton on me after about a few more listens. Also, that MovMou record was incredible tbf. This album definitely reminds me of that and Wait for Love in parts.

When I talked to the band that’s something they brought up, that specifically they wanted this to be a record where you could feel release from moments besides just a big crescendo or a scream. Personally I think that came through and that’s part of why I am so impressed

I agree the singles were misleading fwiw

I think this album ebbs and flows wonderfully. Lots of moments of release scattered throughout

Yeah, I was initially pretty disappointed when MovMou’s self titled came out. It just wasn’t what I expected

Love this. I only listened to Strange Interactions beforehand so I didn't really have expectations.

I encourage everyone to read this interview

I am really connecting with this album a lot in a way that, frankly, I haven’t with any album since I became sober five years ago. I truly cannot find the words to describe how this album makes me feel. It’s a very grey album, which I think best captures the feelings it evokes out of me. One moment, I feel blessed. The next, I feel helpless. This album is an emotional roller coaster for me. I feel lucky and sad all at once. It’s a lot for me to listen to, but I’m not gonna stop listening to it. This is just really special for me right now and I felt compelled to share my fragmented thoughts with anyone who cares enough to read this or may feel similarly.

    Be good to yourselves today.

definitely toned down the vocabulary and is more direct/plain. And it really works.

Yes, thank you. Lyrically it's a bit odd I think, but man what a freaking song. I think it's my favorite at this point.

Came across these guys a year or so ago with Better but hadn't kept up with them until coming across the new release this past weekend. It has gotten a ton of play to say the least.

I don’t really get the lyrics in that song to be honest. What does he mean by “monoculture?” I know what the word literally means when it comes to agriculture or gardening but that doesn’t seem to be his meaning at all. Also, I don’t see how each line in that song has connection with other lines. Is there a summarizable explanation for it? It seems like stream of consciousness word salad to me. It definitely seems like the most cryptic song along with Useful Machine

getting big "the world you love" vibes from strange interactions in the night tbh. song sounds like it could've slotted right into futures.

The crescendo in "Monoculture" feels like a reprise of the one in "Burn Me I'm Made of Matches." I assume it was deliberate, but if not, it still pleases me very much haha.
