Some white dudes think that admitting that they have more privilege means that someone is trying to get them to admit their life is easy. But that isn’t true. Life is hard as hell for everyone. It’s just much harder for other demographics than white men.

Some guys are too weak or selfish or narrow minded or whatever to be able to admit that. It’s stupid.

 

And they lack empathy to look further into it. It’s just easier to remain ignorant and spew hatred.

 

This also isn’t anything new, so not sure why it’s suddenly time for dudes to get mad. She’s been requesting more diverse crews for everything going back a couple years at least. Even going back to costume tests for A4 she mentioned it to our crew and it’s something our producers have been more conscious of since. So, seems to be working.

 

It’s because it’s starting to cross over into the incredibly toxic online fan base for these enormous comic book movies.

 

There will definitely be pictures.

 

Speaking of costumes, I imagine Captain Marvel will be a huge seller this Halloween.

 

I imagine we’ll see a bunch of them bought and burned.

i REALLY wanna go to this special fan event thing my local theater is doing for one of the Thursday night showings of this; but i have SO little money to last me to next week, tix are $30 :(

 

Is it the Opening Night Fan Event? If so, the ticket usually includes popcorn and/or drink and some free swag along with some extra features before the film, usually behind-the-scenes interviews and such.

Did that event for Infinity War last year, best movie theater experience I’ve ever had.

 

This is going to be so 90's and I can't fucking wait

 

Also, imagine how pissed these white bros are gonna be when she's the savior in Endgame.

 

I’m sure the trolls online would be pissed, but let’s be real. Captain America and/or Iron Man will be the saviors of Endgame. Captain Marvel will be the muscle.

 

True true. It makes sense for them to be. I meant savior more in terms of her swooping in to bail their asses out of something.

I got a coin when I did that for Black Panther. Pretty sure it's still in my drawer somewhere

 

I definitely got the coin for the Infinity War event. They had a nice little package at Alamo Drafthouse.

My level of hype has yet to fade for this movie

 

I have a feeling we won’t get to see Captain Marvel go full strength in this film since the villains are skrulls and they’re not super strong. Other than that I’m excited. Now Captain Marvel vs Thanos. I can’t wait to see that on the big screen.

 

If that's true, that's typical shitty Marvel then, haha

 

I mean, Captain Marvel is super strong and the skrulls don’t necessarily quite match up. Maybe the film will have another villain I’m not aware of to match her but I’m expecting Carol to fight off most of the antagonists relatively easily. It should still look awesome.

 

No, I meant the idea of holding back abilities or powers in one movie because the character is going to do something in a different movie. That's lame.

 

Well we know she goes binary mode because of scenes in the trailer so they’re at least not going to hold that back. I think they’ll show off plenty of her powers. I just don’t think we’ll see her powers tested to their full potential until she fights someone like Thanos.

 

I mean, fair criticism of the Marvel Studios approach to storytelling aside, it does make some sense to withhold elements of what a character can do for a future installment. You wanna be able to keep progressing.

On a similar note, though, I did have a concern for part of the promotional cycle of this film that this would end up being a super safe introductory film. Almost more of an obligation to get to a great character, albeit a pretty fun one for fans of Marvel like me. It took the early social media reactions to really convince me that this will actually do some interesting stuff.

Still dreading the whole prequel thing of showing in the third act how Fury lost his eye, lol. Feels so inevitable & tedious.
