Will never happen, DD and JJ had 11 hours to build up their villains. Zemo is the first villain I remember living past 2 and a half in the films?

Loki and Crossbones have both been villains in multiple films.

Grillo was in Winter Soldier. He got burnt up pretty bad when shit went down at headquarters.

Zemo is the Consuela of the MCC. I'm all like "Hail Hydra" and he's all like "No. No Hail Hydra."

Or is he hydra? I dunno.

Loki was blatantly overused. Ultron was incredibly lame. It's like they're always building something up that never happens.

The Winter Soldier was a great villain, but doesn't really count.

Thoroughly enjoyed this film despite a few minor quibbles already discussed at some length in here.

Highlight for me was def :panther:, but Spidey impressed me. I was incredibly skeptical going in. I still haven't seen BvS so I won't bother comparing... but I don't really see a point in fueling arguments like that, so I like to leave them separate. Still very much a fan of Marvel's movies b/c, for all of their flaws, I still find them vastly entertaining. They could do a whole lot worse, that's for goddamn sure. Anyway... #team:ironman:

Like I said some pages ago, I liked Zemo as a a villain, because compared to the Norse gods, or Super Intelligent AI or just plain beings of utter destruction that tried to destroy the world and the Avengers at the same time, he actually succeeded in ripping the team apart. Without even being powered or having to come to blows with barely anyone from the team.

But what is my opinion but an opinion.

  15. I have to disagree a bit here.

Big villains like Loki can be fun, but I'm soooooo tired of the same old 'villain wants to take over/blow up the world' ending.

Civil War shrank down the conflict to a personal level. The movie seemed to acknowledge the cliche plot points of other Marvel movies by (off-screen) putting bullets in the heads of those other winter soldiers. I wasn't taken with Zero during the film, but the payoff came in the last twenty minutes, and it paid big.

It just didn't fit. Like I said. It seemed like a completely different film when he was on screen. And that could be go or bad depending on your viewpoint. The Winter Soldier (Barnes) was an ideal villain. He really had it all. That is part of what made it such a great film and in my opinion, the best one in this Marvel universe so far. I'm all for a different take on things but I just feel like they can't get the conflict/threat/villain right most of the time.

Entertaining, enjoyable, and fun movie. Not close to being the best marvel movie. It felt more like a season premiere than a movie that can stand on its own.. After Spider-Man and black panther get their own stand alone movies, this won't be a movie I see people going back to a lot a few years down the road. No stakes were raised, just a fun movie catching us up with the avengers and introducing new characters.
