So he was not legally intoxicated, driving in a park adjacent to his own property?

Something tells me the Jeep ad was dropped not due to this, or people complaining about the centrist message - totally think it was Trumpy Jeep chuds upset with the Re-United tag at the end.

  12. I mean car company drops ad featuring previously spotless rock star who suddenly has a dwi charge is a pretty predictable and logical turn of events. Didn't see many Buick Tiger Woods ads after his incidents (which granted were far far more serious)

    From the NY Post:

“ Bruce Springsteen was allegedly busted in Sandy Hook, New Jersey when he pulled over to take pictures with fans — and then took a shot of tequila offered by one of them in full view of the cops, a music industry insider said.

The “Born to Run” icon, 71, had been riding his motorcycle on the peninsula on Nov. 14 when he “was spotted by fans who asked him to pull over and take some pictures,” according to a source close to Springsteen.

“Bruce stopped, took the pictures, then a fan offered him a shot of liquor, which he took, while sitting on his bike, which was stationary,” the source said.

Park Police saw what happened and they immediately pulled Springsteen over as he drove away.”

The Post has not been able to immediately verify this account with law enforcement.

Springsteen was charged with DWI, reckless driving and consuming alcohol in a closed area, a spokesperson for the National Park Service said.

The Asbury Park Press reported Springsteen’s blood-alcohol content was 0.02 — just a quarter of New Jersey’s legal limit — when he was arrested.

The legal threshold in New Jersey is .08, which the outlet said calls into question why Springsteen was charged with driving while intoxicated.”

Sounds like somebody had it in for him TBH

  18. So he was arrested... for driving with alcohol in his system way under the legal limit?

    Make it make sense.

So like, did they take him to park jail?

This story should not have been reported without all the details and I’m very curious why it broke after three months and the media outlets that shared it couldn’t take the extra 12 hours to get the full story. Not a great judgment call on Bruce’s part, but also just bad reporting.

i have to admit i was pretty devastated when i heard about this yesterday. the further details, though, do paint this as a really strange situation where it could have easily been some republican cop out to make himself a hero. but, it's also worth remembering, these details could be purely from the springsteen camp to try for some damage control. i'm sure all will be revealed in time but i'm at least thankful this seems to be, at worst, something really dumb he did rather than outright malicious / thoughtless. it's strange that he would do the jeep commercial, after literally refusing for decades, right as this was all coming to a head though - and not telling them about it! just bizarre.

I had (possibly wrongfully?) assumed that Bruce was never a huge drinker. It's surprising to me to hear he was driving under the influence.

It would be nice to have it cleared up.

    This happens all the time.

  23. To me, that seems barely worth the effort of arrest most of the time despite how common it is. Regardless he shouldn't have been driving with alcohol in his system but the fact he was pulled up on it is strange.

  24. Very strange story. Why arrest him if he’s under the limit? Why not just ticket him for drinking in public?
