just doesn't really feel like a BE album to me. it has moments. but overall think it's a miss.

I don’t really care for weeds for the most part or this one, I do like El Capitan a lot though. I honestly forgot this album came out when thinking of my end of the year list

Weeds is top tier Bright Eyes imo. This album does nothing for me

I think this album starts out strong and kind of loses momentum. "All Threes" is a pretty bad song

This thing is as eclectic as the comments Conor makes on stage now. Some of it is great, some of it is meh, some of it is WTF.

For the folks that dislike All Threes (the song), I’m curious, do you like Make a Plan to Love Me?

I ask because I hate make a plan but love all three’s despite seeing them as similar wacko BE tracks

I like most of the track All Threes until he starts saying the title. Something about it sounds off to me

I think it's mostly just a boring song and then there's the Elon Musk line which makes it so much worse

I thought I was the only one that didn't like this song

I do really like the rest of the album though

The intro music reminds me of fairytale land stuff from early Disney classics or something. Then putting Conor’s voice on top after, along with the lyrics, just makes it too zany for me

make a plan might be worst song he's put on an album

Yeah, I've never loved "Make a Plan" but I do like "All Threes" and think its more like "Approximate Sunlight" if we're comparing it to other album tracks. All that said, I do love 5DA3 overall.

Make a Plan always felt like an odd-man-out song on that album but i do like the song.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Make a Plan is good actually, sounds like a mid career Leonard Cohen song

I listened to this album again today and I think it's great

I'm not sure if I like it quite as much as Weeds, but honestly that album is a beast

this album is good but is probably settled somewhere into the middle of the pack for me overall. the good songs are absolute heaters (Bells, Capitan, the GOAT Bas Jan Ader, Tin Soldier) but i just think it has a few too many "just alright" songs.

i love Down in the weeds so, so, so much.

I feel somewhat similar, but honestly to me it is more a reflection on Weeds being absolutely STACKED with great songs moreso than it is this one being filled with weak ones. With this, I really only don't care for the opener (which isn't even a song really) and All Threes, and then I'm pretty lukewarm on the one featuring Matt Berninger. I'd say the rest are all good to great.

I listened yesterday and again this morning after not having revisited this since it released, and even some of the songs that I had kinda forgotten about were better than I remembered. Not the Berninger one though - that one I actually kinda struggled to get thru.

I don't think I listened to Weeds more than a few times. I need to revisit it

I was looking forward to the song with Matt Berninger when it was announced. Never thought it would be the lesser song on this album.
