Not sure when that was recorded but it looked like he cleaned up a bit for the NPR first listen yesterday:

The slap bass on One and Done is so cool, haha. They killed it with the rhythm section on this one. Probably the best they’ve ever had.

On a crowded day with the Killers and Front Bottoms with new releases ... this might be the one I’m gravitating to most. This album is exactly what I was craving.

Not that it’s the biggest deal ... but still think this album cover is so cool.

this feels like a natural progression from the Mystic Valley band albums
Persona Non Grata sounds like Between The Bars and it's killing me
To Death's Heart also feels super familiar, it's beautiful though

  13. This is the story with my partner on pretty much all of my music. I always forget this music doesn't affect me in the same way!

Also, finished a second listen of this record and loving it even more.

Honest to god could see this becoming my favorite Bright Eyes release. At the very least, it’s gunning for top 3.

I'm trying to decide if I would've been happier hearing these songs live this summer or if they'll be better after they've had another year to play around with them.

The live stream on Friday really bummed me out that the shows got cancelled. They did "Light Pollution" "Nothing Gets Crossed Out" & " A Spindle..." which makes me think we would have gotten tons of awesome songs live on the tour.

Yeah, it seems like they really took care to try to keep elements of their whole discography present on this record, and the tour would've definitely had a handful of deeper cuts as a result of some of those efforts. These performances are great to have, but "Mariana Trench" in particular seems like it's going to be incredible live (and I should've seen it twice by now).

That moment when he yells "And sing" really reminds me of the part in Easy, Lucky, Free where he yells "Or free".
