Tom is in his own club of singers gone awful

Having seen both live a few times, I would argue that Adam is not much better than Tom.

Having said that, they have been among the most entertaining and engaging singers I've seen.

The worst was buddy from senses Fail when he was wasted off his ass in like 08 I think. Worse than any Tom performance I've seen.

Well, I'm going off my personal experiences. In the past I agree Adam was bad. But when I saw them in October he blew me away how better he got. And then even more back in July

Very easily, given that tracks 2, 4, and 5 are the best on the album

Wrecked 'em? Damn near killed 'em!

Best I've ever seen Adam: the 2010 OG line up reunion tour, and in Oct. 2013 when he had lost the weight he had put on in 2011/2012.
Worst I've ever seen Adam: TAYF 2012 tour. Everything else has been varying degrees of meh vocally. Good or bad vocal performance, you can't deny the dudes ability to work a stage/crowd

I don't hate it, but it's bottom tier for me excluding YFW. The only song I skip more than Quiet Things is probably Sic Transit.

Good songs! So that says something. But Deja as a whole hasn't aged that well for me.

I'm just kidding. Ask anyone who posts here I'm not one to judge on your personal tastes (I love every song on blink-182s California for example). My saying is always "different strokes for different blokes"

The great parts of Quiet Things are really great but the weaker parts are very awkward to me. The little guitar intro when one guitar just meekly hits an open note while the other guitar just does a chordal lick is so clumsy and sounds awkward

That's just Vin playing that whole part though in the intro. I think going into the bridge though, Jesse plays the corresponding power chords while Vin plays the melodic part.

I love that guitar intro tbh. Could recognize it in a guitar center if it was being played through stairway to heaven and smoke on the water.

im pissed i forgot to vote last round, pissed you all let Jaws Theme Die and pissed that Tautou didn't move on

The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot: This was kind of tough. I think Guernica is a song I like more, but I kind of don't love the sound or production of it on record (there's one part in particular that doesn't pop the way I feel like it was supposed to), which doesn't decrease my love for it, but I do think Boy is maybe a little better executed. I kind of love the way other people love this song. If that doesn't make sense, I just mean that I like the quality of it as a sort of rallying point among fans has always been something that's been really cool to me. I also always like Jesse cribbing from Morrissey and unrelated, there's a vid floating around of Geoff from Thursday doing a partial cover of it and I love that too haha

Good To Know That If I Ever Need Attention All I Have To Do Is Die: I love Quiet Things, it's a great pop gem on the album and that riff still gets stuck in my head. But I feel like Good To Know is something I appreciate for reaching for something that they weren't capable of yet. It's kind of a stumble -- not because it's a bad track, but because they weren't there yet on jamming, so the extended parts don't seem as exciting in comparison to something like Limousine (similar use of build up of tension) or Noro. That being said, when they got there, live versions of this song seem especially cool, and the extended parts are still fun to listen to. I always admire a band trying to do something they hadn't done before as opposed to doing what they're easily capable of.

Okay I Believe You, But My Tommy Gun Don't: are the lyrics Jesse's finest moment? Nah. Do I still get a thrill out of overt bragging/mocking in a genre that was kind of prone to playing the faux victim? You bet. The juxtaposition of hyper confidence and self loathing is still fascinating to me (it's something that drew me to Cursive when I got into them), and the bridge still rocks.

Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades: The one-two of Tautou and this might be one of my most vivid musical memories. This was when I became a fan of the band. As a 15 year old it definitely helped with some anxiety I was having and helped me figure out that maybe not all "rites of passage" should be rushed into as a kid. The loud/quiet thing was not something I was super accustomed to yet either, so at 15 I thought it was incredible that the verses could get so quiet and so eerie and then the chorus could be so anthemic and loud. Now, I appreciate it most for trying to grapple with a topic that was handled clumsily by a lot of bands at the time. Also...........that bassline duh Garrett is the goat
