There are definitely many great bands with great albums that I will be and am excited for.

And my expectations for a new Brand New album have definitely waned over the years simply because of how long it's been.

But my god if they ever release another album I will be stoked as hell.

 

There's no denying that Brand New is still my most anticipated release even after all these years.

 

I don't think I'll ever anticipate anything like I'm anticipating "Goodness" at the end of this month.

 

I'll def be checking that one out even though I've never really gotten into them.

Saosin on Friday and then Thrice and The Hotelier end of May will be good for new music.

 

Well, I know Jason has mentioned that he hasn't reached out to the Brand New camp on their goings on. (Might be from the supporter forum, but don't think this is crazy secret info, more like lack of info). Something to do with not being on the edge of his seat with anticipation, not really caring about knowing the potential news the absolute second it's available. I understand that position, a much less stressful and more casual approach to it.

I genuinely wish I could look at it like that. I tapered expectation for the last 7 years, until this past January, after all the Leaked Demos stuff. My obsessive (within reason) hype train hit full throttle. I'm confident that it's coming soon, and definitely have a feeling we will see something before their Summer touring starts in two weeks.

Saying all that, I'd be really disappointed if tomorrow was the day they officially announced the details and I'm off the grid from my ability to see it all go down. Especially if preorders go up, as this is something I expect will have variations that will be sold out by the time I can even know something has happened.

Though I haven't seen any rumblings that feel legitimate about tomorrow being the day. I usually keep an eye out for anything @Jason Tate might be hinting at. If anything is coming this week, all rumblings seem to be nil.

It's just years of pent up Brand New anxiety rearing its ugly head.

 

Brand New has been on the top of my Most Anticipated list for years. And I actually enjoyed Heat Thing-- for sure the record didn't live up to the hype, but that didn't make it terrible. I think it gets a bad rep because people are so wrapped up in the Brand New connection. When you put it next to Brand New's work it's out of line, it doesn't fit. When you put it with Andrew Accardi's other ventures (ROBBERS, his artwork, Cosmic Harvey), it doesn't seem so "out there".

Speaking of the mad genius of the Accardi brothers, does anyone know what the hell ORCA is?? Vin is notoriously closed lipped about the thing.

 

Is ORCA Vin's alleged solo project? I remember reading something a few years ago about some fan seeing who he thought to be Vin singing and playing guitar in some band around Long Island. I want to say it was a KDev show. ORCA was the group's name and--from what I recall--they sounded bad.

 

Off the grid in a few hours. Hold off on anything cool happening.

This is exactly me, except maybe tamer somehow. I'm so nervous that they'll just drop an album preorder and I'll miss out on some gorgeous variant, especially since I'm in the UK and assume I'll probably be asleep when it's announced, if it's announced. I check here, reddit, the band's facebook and their procrastinate page every day. I'm really rather pathetic.

What are releases 3 & 5?

It goes from 2 to 4 and 4 to 6....

 

3 is the second Shone album, and 5 is the third Shone album. Brand New decided to put all their stock in Shone, it's actually Shone going on tour with Modest Mouse.

I think I am to this thread what @KennedyBN is to The Hotelier thread.

It's an ebb and a flow though. This evening I'm content with whatever. This morning I was sure I was going to miss something.

My world really doesn't revolve around Brand New as my Chorus.fm presence tends to let on.

 

I'll be like you two in the Thursday thread soon probably.
